Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Always seemed to be a clutch performer though. Am I wrong? yes
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Kawasaki was not a good baseball player... but I liked having him around. Like mentioned above, he was more cheerleader/mascot than ballplayer though. No room on a 25 man roster for that.
ValiantJaysFan Verified Member Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Yeah, it was so much fun to sit there and laugh at the funny chinaman. Definitely not racist at all. His name is Munenori Kawasaki. And he is JAPANESE.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 So if I laughed after he had his game winning hit and interview I was being racist? Was I being racist when I laughed about his "monkey never cramps" interview? Re-say what he said but as a white guy with proper grammar and pronunciation. Still funny? Didn't think so. Racist.
Laika Community Moderator Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 I bet Sham-piro didn't even make him an offer

Damn SJW's always trying to ruin everyone's fun. The language barrier definitely adds to what makes it funny so you can't just replace it with a North American person (whether that person is black, white, hispanic, Asian), then it wouldn't even make sense it would just be weird. You could replace him with a guy of any race from another country though. My name is Pierre and I am FREEEENCH! Laughing at that would that be racist? I don't think it would be. But then again I might not be as politically correct as you or others. Weird antics like dancing and goofing around in the dugout also get a lot of play, whether the player is Japanese, Hispanic or white.

Laughing at race isn't cool, man.

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2016 Author Posted January 21, 2016 Are you guys triggered? I'm embarassed that such a s***** player was a Blue Jays "fan favourite" for such moronic and racist reasons.

Lol well now I can't tell if you're being serious or if you are trolling me. You never seemed like the SJW type before but I don't really remember.
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 depends which direction he wants to take the team. He could let EE and Bau walk and get draft picks and start a rebuild. I really REALLY hope we don't get caught in the middle this year, keep our vets at the deadline, miss the playoffs, and let them walk for just comp picks Yah the Jays are potentially sitting on a gold mine of prospects at the deadline if they really want which will help in the long run of speeding up a rebuild. f*** you all who are bringing this rebuild poison into this thread. The team won 93 games last year. We can reasonably expect them to have above 85 this year and compete for a playoff spot. Let's look forward to 2016, not what 2020 could look like.

The players we have cost a lot of money. Unless those players take a deal and Shapiro actually offers them something they aren't coming back. But you are correct I'm damn excited to see what happens this year.

Lots of things can happen between this time and a year from now, both on and off the field.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 I don't know what the f*** that means. SJW = social justice warrior you know those annoying mouth-breather types who get easily offended? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4S2HRYYZoko
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 I don't know what the f*** that means. It stands for Social Justice Warrior. Usually people on the internet, particularly Tumblr, who get easily offended and call things racist or sexist. Being "politically correct" is of the utmost importance to them. A good example of an SJW would be someone who goes on a baseball message board and throws the word racism around because people like a player who is foreign and find him to be funny.

We laughed at him for mispronouncing words and generally misunderstanding our culture. He's like Borat, without the irony.
CJ-Freeway Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 f***, I loved Kawasaki. He was a decent backup IF, was he not? Plus I'm pretty sure he added +1 for team morale (Fangraphs should make up a new stat like that)

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 f***, I loved Kawasaki. That's racist. He was a decent backup IF, was he not? Well I thought he was pretty good as organizational depth. Probably a 1 WAR player who we could stash in AAA with options. That said, he's starting to get pretty long in the tooth so he's probably at best just replacement level at this point. Plus I'm pretty sure he added +1 for team morale (Fangraphs should make up a new stat like that) Also racist.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Alex would have found a way to keep him
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 AA is an idiot. Kawi is a piece of s***, but he added Kawasaki to the 25-man roster several times But he's more valuable than Goins!! Shapiro is clearly a moron.

BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Has there ever been a less valuable Jay given so much fanfare? John MacDonald maybe? He is an amusing guy, but its been so overdone. Wish him well. Chicago is just ripe for bush parties.
BTS Community Moderator Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Wow, Terminator is so racist. Ban this filth.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Has there ever been a less valuable Jay given so much fanfare? John MacDonald maybe? Yeah MacDonald got a lot of love. He was also a pretty horrible player and he didn't even have the personality that Kawa has either. The love for him was even more unfounded imo but I suppose it was the flashy plays in the field.
Cyris Verified Member Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Not really sad to see him go but I never really understood the hate for him so many have around here. He was a depth player and nothing more. He was the back-up to our back-up infielder, how does a role like that illicit such a polarizing response? For the roll he had he did just fine but Barney fills that roll better going forward.
