The last year on this deal seems insane to me. It serves no purpose other than to offer Bauer a bonus if he suffers a major injury or falls off a cliff. He gets payed an extra 17M if he is bad at his job.

I thought at least most hardcore baseball fans knew by now that most of Cobb's reputation was extremely exaggerated. Ty Cobb was a complicated and flawed person like we all are but not nearly the monster he was portrayed as. Really what Al Stump did to a dying Cobb is probably worse than anything Cobb ever did himself.

It shouldnt even be a question, there is no legitimate reason not to give it to him if he stays healthy and continues his quality of play. The question should be if he wins the platinum glove. He has given almost double the defensive value of the second best CF in all of baseball. Then again the legitimacy of the GG was destroyed after Rafael Palmeiro won the award after playing less than 30 games in the field.

Giving up on young struggling pitching is always a good idea. I bet the O's are glad they did it with Arrieta. Wish we had with Sanchez before this season.

With the intended starting line up playing for the first time this year two things stand out for me. Smoak is easily the weakest link on the team and needs to be replaced. And second why is the hell is Pillar hitting in front of Travis or really anywhere but 9th?

Good move to DFA him as he wasnt providing any real value but calling up Tepera who is equally useless doesnt help much. Would rather have seen a little outside the box thinking like calling up Hutchison and going with a 6 man rotation to limit Sanchez's innings to delay moving him to the pen.
