G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 My picks. 1-Dickey 2-Estrada 2 worst?
Laika Community Moderator Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 I've got a good feeling that either he or Hutch is going to surprise a lot of people this coming season. Agreed. Hutch will surprise the casuals by being good. Sanchez will surprise the casuals by being so bad that it's hard to watch (Drabekian).

We need Hutch and/or Sanchez to exceed some pretty low expectations. Hutch has the tools to be mid rotation or better I think.

jdmo Verified Member Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 how much of the 25 lbs can be attributed to the dong?

Maahfaace Verified Member Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 Sanchez will be pounding lineups 3 times through the order with his thunderbolt fastball all season long baby. We will be introduced to his buzz saw of a cutter as well as slightly improved fastball command and a show me change up. I can't wait for 200 IP of 3.80 ERA and 4.50 FIP. Id love to see him add a solid change-up to his repertoire, seems like he should be able to develop one with some movement given his arm action.
Brenner Verified Member Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 Dickey says he lost 12 pounds of pure fat over the off season. Will be interesting to see who's strategy works best.

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 Atleast 12 pounds is a reasonable amount in a 4 month span. Sanchez gained 15 pounds in his ass by eating Doritos and protein shakes.

Now when it's August and his teenager metabolism is eating his body from the inside, it will eat the fat before the muscle.

You can't lose fat and not lose "some" muscle... how much muscle you lose depends on how committed you are to your weight training.
fireballW Verified Member Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 You can't lose fat and not lose "some" muscle... how much muscle you lose depends on how committed you are to your weight training. I think that is a simplified way of looking at it. I used to play sports every day throughout my youth and had muscle and was lean. Now I really haven't done much for over 10 years so I am getting porky and don't have much muscle. If I was to get serious and exercise I am sure I would lose fat and gain muscle. I know what you are thinking and trying to say, but I think we ge the point of what they are saying.

You can really only gain muscle while eating at a caloric surplus, weight training, with sufficient protein intake, else you end up spinning your tires or losing muscle.
Governator Community Moderator Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 I think we're forgeting that competitive muscle is different than regular muscle tho

Slugger Verified Member Posted March 6, 2016 Posted March 6, 2016 You can while taking testosterone. Goes without saying. I don't know why people still say "_____lbs of muscle over X amount of time!" like it's the 90's. He probably put on 2 or 3lbs.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted March 6, 2016 Posted March 6, 2016 I love how this conversation is still going on. Here's the bottom line. He's 25 pounds heavier. Is he fat or is he still in seemingly good shape? Good shape. Check! Will he pitch better this year? Who the f***s knows...but many think the added weight will help durability. That's all that matters. I don't care if he added 25 pounds of rocks in his pockets...if he improves in 2016 then I'm a happy man.

Added weight is almost always good when you're a pitcher, if it includes a regimen of weight training, and the pitcher is not obese.
