Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2020 Posted September 28, 2020 I meant devalue midrotation starters. Did people bother with them or just stack RPs? I didn't notice much difference, but I wasn't looking too closely and people didn't have a lot of time to reorganize their teams. This offseason may change things more. A lot of relievers are getting both anyway (aside from closers). If you have a bunch of relievers that can slot into SP slots, then it's really the same thing (and probably causes them to be dramatically overvalued).
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2020 Posted September 28, 2020 I meant devalue midrotation starters. Did people bother with them or just stack RPs? Normally would have 7 different starters used during a week. In BBDL this dropped to 5 or so, and I increased RP by about 2. The 2 additional RP returning better value than the s***** #6 and #7 starters.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2020 Posted September 28, 2020 We need to decide reasonably soon what we're doing for 2021 positional eligibility. Our setting have until now remained unchanged from Yahoo: 10 games previous or current to qualify at hitting position 5 games previous or current to qualify at pitching position Thoughts? My current feeling is that we didn't change the 'current season threshold this year, so I don't see a need to change the 'previous season' threshold for 2021. Regarding thresholds, owners have targetted and made trades on the basis of positional flexibility. So it might be unfair to use the thresholds for a full season for 2021. Suggest prorate based on number of games in 2020

Suggest prorate based on number of games in 2020 So you're suggesting, say: 10 current and 5 previous hitting 5 current and 3 previous pitching for 2021?
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2020 Posted September 28, 2020 So you're suggesting, say: 10 current and 5 previous hitting 5 current and 3 previous pitching for 2021? Yes, but prorating would be closer to 10 and 4, 5 and 2.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2020 Posted September 28, 2020 In 2020, 233 pitchers made 2 or more starts. in 2019, 236 pitchers made 5 or more starts. So the reduction from 5 to 2 for pitchers checks out.

Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2020 Posted September 28, 2020 Congrats Spanky! Masterful use of the waiver wire also, to create a really good team.
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2020 Posted September 28, 2020 Atta boy Spankster! Well deserved
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2020 Posted September 28, 2020 Before the season started the subject of 26 man rosters came up to mirror MLB teams. I think it was agreed to be revisited after the season if I recall correctly? Thanks

I think it was agreed to be revisited after the season if I recall correctly? Thanks Yeah, we're going to do a poll on this. I'll get one up when the 2021 season opens. A few minor items to take care of in the coming weeks: 1. position eligibility thresholds (will Jim's recommendations stand) 2. will we be expanding to 26-man rosters I think that's it?
TheHurl Site Manager Posted September 28, 2020 Posted September 28, 2020 I really don't want to even think about Fantasy baseball until January at the earliest. So what happens first I login to Fantrax or Spanky sobers up from his championship celebrations. Congrats big Red!
BTS Community Moderator Posted September 28, 2020 Posted September 28, 2020 I’ve renewed the league for 2021 (god bless Fantrax). Our premium free trial ran out, so we’re back to an unpaid league. The only premium feature we were using was the ability to trade 2022 picks. So that’s gone now, but the picks that were traded are still with the teams they were traded to.
BTS Community Moderator Posted September 28, 2020 Posted September 28, 2020 (edited) I've also added the positional minimums that Jim suggested, so your current rosters look like they'll look for the 2021 season if there's not significant support for doing it differently over the next couple of days. And I've turned weekly add limits off, so you can make as many moves as you want over the offseason. Edited September 28, 2020 by BTS

BTS Community Moderator Posted September 28, 2020 Posted September 28, 2020 How much do you need to be able to go to premium features? It's $100 US for a season. Not a lot, but I just don't want the hassle of collecting fees from everyone when we're just using the one premium feature.
BTS Community Moderator Posted September 28, 2020 Posted September 28, 2020 One final item that I forgot yesterday: IL restrictions. Recall that we had a 5-man IL limit in Yahoo and moved to unlimited because of covid. I honestly thought the unlimited IL worked great. Rosters were locked if a IL player lost his red flag and wasn't activated, so hoarding wasn't an issue. I see no reason to go back to a limited IL, but if opinion seems split I'll open it up to a poll.

Either make them part of your 25, or don’t. After that I don’t think it matters
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2020 Posted September 28, 2020 Otherwise you’re letting a guy like Spanky hoard 40 players and then have the luxury of picking which ones to keep as things unfold near opening day

Some teams have already made trades based on a player being on IL for TJ recovery etc,, or not counting towards a roster spot until mid season 2021 etc. If that were to happen I would request it be done for 2022 not 2021.. Just my dos pesos.

But especially with a s*** draft approaching, I think rosters should be 25 going into it

Anyways, as I said I’m sure I’m in the minority so not a big deal. But especially with a s*** draft approaching, I think rosters should be 25 going into it Let me give you an example of a guy like Trey Mancini. I have made roster moves/ and am making, assuming he will be able to come back next season and play 1B. Of course, recovering from cancer, no one really knows how strong/if he will comeback. I don't want to drop him if he comes back good as new. However, I don't want him taking up a roster spot I could have used to acquire other players, if when the season starts he is not able to play or not going to be ready until mid-season etc.. Again, just my opinion on it. I will go along with whatever the group decides.
