Laika Community Moderator Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 If David Price was coming off TJS in a season where he didn't pitch how much money do you think he gets if he tried to maximize $? I think some team would still give him $100 million over a 6-7 year deal. He'd sign a pillow contract to prove he's healthy.
SaskJaysFan_2 Verified Member Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 A 8 year 200 million dollar contract wouldn't be terrible. He would likely generate 18-20 wins above replacement in the first 4 years alone, which would make the contract viable. Exactly. And baseball salaries won't stay static for 7 years. Perhaps a middling starter in 5 years will be worth $30M AAV with the way salaries keep inflating. Who the hell knows.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 Price and his agent think differently, they are both Vanderbilt Graduates. If Price gets 200 Million over 8 years (25 per year), there are time value of money considerations. Discounting at 10%, that 200 Million is only worth 133Mil in Present value dollars. So 40 Mil for one year >>>>> 133 Mil for 8 years.

TilsonBritoFan Verified Member Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 price is expected to be more expensive than grienke, yet grienke is the better bet going forward Grienke seems like a weirdo. No idea how he'd fit into the clubhouse. Price was a fantastic teammate and everyone already loves him. That is worth something. Give me the scooters over the bipolar guy any day.

TilsonBritoFan Verified Member Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 I know its not the best for the team 4 or 5 years from now, but its best for the team now, so f*** it. Flags fly for ever. Even pennants. If Price re-signs I will be f***ing ecstatic, and the feeling around town will be through the roof.

The couple of ass clowns like you who keep trying to derail it with comments like this. Even though its a far out there idea, there are a few people here who are actually discussing this. It was fairly comparable to a homophobic and/or racist statement in terms of the marginalizing nature of the comment.

Well, you just called "ME" a weirdo and bipolar and you've met me personally? I've suffered with the same s*** as Greinke since I've been 18?
