If Ryan Goins starts the season off hot, then I don't know if it will be easy to convince the fans that Travis should be the starter. If anything, maybe LaCava and Co will want him to get reps in the minors as much as possible. He hasn't swung a bat in a long while.

Kinda odd to me they waited so long? I guess they have been trying to avoid it but this should have been resolved surgery yes or no a few weeks ago at least

You should always try to avoid shoulder surgery. He most likely damaged his shoulder coming back to soon and while swinging the bat. Poor kid wanted to be back so bad he steered himself into shoulder surgery, one of the worst types. He's young though and with what he has available medically speaking, he'll be ok. You never know though with shoulder injuries, scary.

Maybe the Goins wagers based on over 600 PA may not have to be prorated after all. Lol..

Even with the injury concerns he's a hell of a lot better than Gose.

Weird thing about Gose is that his defense apparently sucks. He'd be a nice player if the defense was as advertised in the minors.

Damn, looks like it could be pretty serious. Screws in shoulder and everything.

Where did you find details of it? I couldn't find it - could be looking at the wrong places.

The team should really bring in a guy they're comfortable giving a few hundred PA at 2B to. Utley? Aviles?

Zobrist. He would provide depth in the OF too. Although it would never happen.

Would be perfect, but as you say, not likely.

Cheap as f*** option - Kelly Johnson.

Can throw him at 2B, 3B, LF, RF, and 1B. Maybe even platoon a bit with Colabello or Travis depending on what happens.

This is where having the Turf really hurts in acquiring FA. Jays really get the s*** end of it in FA. Pitchers don't want to come here because its a hitter's park and position players don't want to come because of the turf.

Sporstnet:

The Blue Jays say they discovered that Travis had a pre-existing acromion bone non-union in his left shoulder earlier this season. The condition, known as an Os Acromiale, didn’t appear to be contributing to his left shoulder inflammation at the time, but after weighing other possibilities, doctors recommended a procedure that included inserting screws to stabilize the extra bone in his shoulder. Dr. David Altchek operated on Travis in New York City Tuesday.

As was mentioned previous. I hope the team wasn't like maybe he can avoid surgery and work through his shoulder problems. Just get the surgery and stop delaying.

This is true. Pillar basically developed into what we all though Gose would be. I still remember 2-3 years ago I was talking with Tinnish and he raved at Gose's defense. Said he purposely plays out of position at times just to test the boundaries of his range. He still has a cannon of an arm....it's really baffling that his defense rates out below average.

He wasn't bad defensively with the blue jays so could be small sample size. He's also as dumb as bricks so that probably doesn't help.

The poor kid was trying to play through that, i'm impressed even more by him.

Argh. Say it ain't so. The never ending shoulder issues situation. Like this kid a lot but he is having the luck of Saunders to start his MLB career. Hope he can bounce back.
