Probably doesn't mean much, but on Twatter, lots of Indians fans are happy he's gone.

Never has there been lots of Indians fans.

A lot of Indian fans were also happy when Shapiro was gone. Besides, considering Atkins role was "Vice President of Player Personnel" I highly doubt fans have enough insight to what he does to really bitch about his role/position.

Why the f*** would Indians fans want him gone? They probably had no idea who he was until today.

Based on what? His biggest commitment ever to a pitcher was three years of Buehrle.

Even RA who he valued a lot and gave up our top 2 (f***ing) prospects for him, was extended to a 2+1 agreement

I don't see AA getting approval from Rogers to sign Price to any contract. Sure AA would've tried, but unless he was going to beat Bostons offer by a few million Price would not sign.

Boston is a way better baseball city compared to Toronto.

that's just a losers mentality. We can't sign anyone because Boston is a way better baseball city. Toronto is a great city. Canada is a great country. Toronto sports fans can be fickle, but there were pretty insane while Price was here. We also have a stronger lineup than Boston and by all accounts Price got along with his teammates. Given some of the words shared between fans and players in Boston with Price, I don't think it's a stretch to say he would have signed in Toronto for the same or less money. Price obviously signed with Boston so the perceived conflict wasn't that big of a deal. 17 or 27 million might have been too big of a gap and he might have signed in Boston anyways, but if the Jays had offered Price the same contract, he'd be a blue Jay today. That was never going to happen though.

I think Hutch will emerge at some point. Maybe not this year though.

we say this every year....hope springs eternal

Maybe Hutchinson will figure it out this year.

Still only 25

Amazing. Seems like he has been around forever...and he had TJ mixed in there. Nobody would be happier if he can find that consistency.

I heard Shi Dividi yesterday saying some think Sanchez could be that front end starter to replace Price. He said there was some debate about this. That's a f***ing understatement!

Maybe Atkins will send Sanchez to the minors to start and actually have a pitching coach work with him to improve his mechanics and maybe add a pitch to his repertoire. The previous regime seemed to think Sanchez was great as is but this new regime won't.

you do know that they were trying to add a cutter/slider to Sanchez's arsenal last year right?

This is the hope. Atkins' elite development background would see red flags in Sanchez' performance metrics, and, if depth was good, doing what you suggested would be the best direction.

Hell I would have him working with someone as early as January/February.

I like what I heard from Atkins regarding nutrition. I hope he changes the structure in the minors in regards to the meals. There should be a private chef for each minor league team cooking healthy meals for the players. I never understand how teams feed f***in peanut butter sandwiches to prospects that are worth millions of dollars to them.

Like you could spend 100K on food/catering which is nothing to a MLB team that could pay massive dividends for the org.

Jonah is pretty legit, he wouldn't post something he hadn't actually heard (doesn't mean it's correct of course). One of the rumours is that he's going to work there as the TV Analyst though.

take it for what its worth, but in an article/interview about AA on rds in french, the last sentence reads ,

"J’ai 38 ans et je ne veux pas m’asseoir sur mon derrière et encaisser mon chèque"

translated, i am 38yo, i don't want to sit on my *** and cash my check.

TO me that explains clearly what the situation of alex was, and clearly the condition atkins is operating in.

Shapiro is defacto GM and all the rest are yes men.

To some , including myself, that was clear from day one, that statement however is more a confirmation then information.

#Browns naming Paul DePodesta an exec VP. Interestingly, I heard yesterday Jimmy Haslam offered job to ex-Tribe prez Mark Shapiro in August.

Andrew Friedman values the opinion of AA? This will go over well here...

We already knew that one. It's always been a shock to us. I'm hearing that it is VP of Player Development and Scouting...cause the Dodgers need more pitchers in their org.

Is there a "Meh" option with this poll?

AA to the Dodgers is interesting.

Didn't the dodgers sign Ismael Cruz, he and AA are pretty tight. This has probably been in the works for a while.

Well my issue with this it isn't that AA has his strengths. He does. It's just that his best skill seemed to be his "soft skills". He really seemed like a good negotiator. Signed some guys like Alford and Norris for much less than people thought it would take, negotiated the Donaldson trade, really nailed it with EE's last two contracts. Those skills seem kind of wasted in a subsidiary role. Unless he's roping Tinnish in with him then I don't really see what AA brings to the table as a VP of Player Development and Scouting and heck even with Tinnish, he didn't have much of a record with position players, at times avoiding them altogether. I mean I know AA went to scout school and stuff but I don't really know anything about how common or valuable a scout school education is.
