intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Pardon my giddiness, but is it too early to think of manager candidates? Gibby can't possibly survive without AA, right? Don't let me down, Shapiro. Why the rush to get rid of Gibby?
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Shapiro hasn't even started the job yet and he's already the most hated man in Toronto. He's going to need half price prostitute days at the dome this summer to regain the fans support!
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Only the Blue Jays would fail to resign the Excutive of the year. Any window with our free agents just became non existent.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Don't worry guys, this is all part of the master plan to poach Dave Stewart from Arizona...
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Why are people so up in arms over this? If AA turns down an extension that's no fault of Shapiro. Secondly, AA hasn't been the best GM ever like lots of people are making him out to be. Sure it's bad PR, but I'd trust anyone that Shapiro brings in to just as good a job with a 120+ million dollar payroll. Pretty tough to make those assumptions. Shapiro offers him a 1 year deal for $200 and all the gyro's he can eat and cuts half his responsibilities and you'd suggest this isn't Shapiro's fault? Lets get some facts first. It's like you've already forgotten about JP Riccardi man.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Why did you have to add these last five words? That's why people don't like you. Lol, like 3 of you. I like talking about baseball and don't give a rat's ass if you like me.
SumoNinja Verified Member Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 AA wasn't going to sign an extension that required him to take a demotion. Not that hard to understand his pov. Good luck to him in the future.
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Guys forgot a plus. Hurl, Nox and BTS will all happily cheer for the Jays again!
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Lol, like 3 of you. I like talking about baseball and don't give a rat's ass if you like me. You think only 3 people dislike you?
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 People are pissed because after finally watching a playoff worthy team, the guy who built it is leaving. If I can borrow a Krylianism, it's like if the 10 got off you mid-ride. Realistically it's just a buzzkill. I don't think this spells any kind of disaster whatsoever. If anything, you should all be blaming AA for walking off given the information we have. Not accepting a contract =/= getting fired.
LGBJ29 Verified Member Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 It is amazing how bad of an eye for talent people have around here. Losing AA is as significant as unexpectedly losing a real good player. Hopefully we get lucky with his replacement. Kind of like losing D'arnaud, Syndergaard and Yan Gomes?

Good luck to him in the future. Demotion? Where are you coming with that? He was only being asked to work under a different Team President and we know that he went to Beeston with deals. There's nothing to suggest a demotion.

Caper Verified Member Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 AA was an incredible GM. Josh Donaldson was one of the greatest trades I have ever seen... Not so much from a return of talent perspective but from the way he pulled it off. Anthony Alford is another one. Yeah he made a couple of bad deals but he had talents few GM's have.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Can't even resign a Canadian GM that lives with his family in Toroto lol.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Trying to bring in a rival GM to take over as president wasn't fishy to you? Do you honestly think AA would have been fine with that? Hell, Shapiro hasn't been a GM for years and AA bounced. Shapiro wasn't the GM in Cleveland man. He hasn't been the GM since 2010.

LGBJ29 Verified Member Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 I still cant believe how many people are blaming Rogers and the Blue Jays for this. The extension was offered. AA chose not to take it a moved on. His decision. Now we move on...
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Shapiro wasn't the GM in Cleveland man. He hasn't been the GM since 2010. He was talking about Duquette.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Kind of like losing D'arnaud, Syndergaard and Yan Gomes? seriously man? The Donaldson trade alone counterbalances all 3 of those players. Then add Tulo, Price, Travis, Stro, traded Wells, Osuna, Sanchez, Pompey, Martin...
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Can't even resign a Canadian GM that lives with his family in Toroto lol. Stop trolling dummy
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 People aren't even thinking about why AA would decline. Let's not forget that Shapiro did not force him to leave but rather AA made a choice. Obviously, Shapiro's modern way of analysing the game didn't jive with AA. Shapiro likely wanted a larger stat department that is actually used for meaningful things and to reduce the reliance on subjective scout analysis. If AA left, in my mind it means that he was not on board with these things and so I'm kind of glad he left. This is not a bad day for the Toronto Blue Jays.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Shapiro wasn't the GM in Cleveland man. He hasn't been the GM since 2010. You realize you're responding to a post that ended with "Shapiro hasn't been a GM in years", right? The rival GM thing was about Duquette last year.

The Mets and Marlins trades were equally as bad as the Donaldson trade was good.
CHRIS Verified Member Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Very interesting. On the whole, I think AA's body of work was hit-and-miss but I understand that he made some big moves and the playoff run is still fresh in everyone's mind. I'll be interested to see how this affects everyone else, most notably, Gibbons. Is Manny Acta currently managing somewhere? I seem to remember him as being a pretty forward thinking guy, by manager standards. At least we'll have something to talk about this offseason.
TRM Verified Member Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 I expect Terry Francona to be our coach come Spring Training.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 If Ricciardi was given the same payroll as AA did, I would bet he wouldve made the playoffs. That was my point. Jays started this season with the 10th highest payroll in MLB, in 2008 Riccardi started with the 13th highest...just a couple mill out of 10th...
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Shapiro is an idiot. If he was any smart at all he would have made the Carrasco trade to the Jays. But honestly, Carrasco seems primed to be a stud and Shapiro was shopping him as if he didn't even know. We really trust this guy more than AA? Sure Shapiro might make a few less mistakes but he also hits less home runs. The ignorance is strong with this one.
