Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Rogers needs money to hire more hockey analysts. We need better break downs of the Florida Panthers vs. The Carolina Hurricanes You're an idiot.
thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Sources: #Dodgers have hired international scouting executive Ismael Cruz away from #BlueJays. f***.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 I honestly have zero reason to believe McCown's claim. Why in the world would Rogers even think about cutting payroll to under $100 million. First of all I have a hard time believing Shapiro would even take the job if he knew that was coming. Second, you already have almost $110 million tied up in salary without addressing any needs so unless you firesale Donaldson, EE and Bautista it really doesn't seem realistic. Not to mention if Blue Jays management knew of payroll going down why would they take any chance in offering Estrada the QO? Even from Rogers perspective why the hell would they cut payroll after coming off such a great season in which they made record revenues? Seems more like Bob is mad at Rogers for the Beeston situation than anything.

Holy crap man, there are other assets on the roster. I would bet my life none of those guys got traded, unless another team overpaid.

THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 I love that they are considering Hendriks with Osuna/Sanchez as potential rotation options. I think it's a great idea to see what you have in him. Sanchez should be on the outside looking in for a rotation spot. I would hope that we bring in enough pitching to allow Sanchez to develop much more in AA/AAA as a starter. He needs more than 1 pitch to succeed as a starter long-term. I think if they get him to learn a change-up, throw his curve harder, and learn either a cutter or a slider, he'll have a suitable arsenal. Sanchez needs to develop control over at least pitches though before I'd consider him for the MLB rotation. Let's hope Shapiro feels the same way.

Well look at our needs first of all- SP, SP,SP (Estrada), RP, 1B, Backup Catcher We could potentially fill that all through free agency, unlikely though. Goins could fetch you something. Pompey could fetch you something real nice. Tellez, Alford, Greene, SRF, Pentecost, all have a lot of value.

THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Since Tulo/EE/JB/JD are off-limits, and Shapiro wants to rebuild the farm/keep young pitching, that means our only trade assets are Pillar, Travis, Sanchez (periphals won't make him untouchable with Shapiro), Revere, Goins, Dickey and Colabello. Could a Pillar and Travis for Carrasco and Johnson work? Travis, in particular, has a lot of potential and maybe him or Kipnis could be moved to 3rd (JK projects to have -3 UZR next season at 2nd, not sure how Travis projects). Would that be enough to get it done or does Travis have less value than I think (2.3 WAR in 60 games is pretty great)?
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Devon Travis is a star. You don't trade stars+Pillar, that's how you loose your job.

He is young controllable and could be a Perfect leadoff hitter.... He is part of the future for the jays.
