Laika Community Moderator Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Can teams still give qualifying offers at this point?? The deadline to extend a QO hasn't happened yet. It is soon though.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 (edited) But in general can they? Can they decline and then qualify?? Edited October 29, 2015 by G-Snarls

THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Stro Zimmer Kazmir Dickey Hutch 2-3 bullpen pieces. Not bad, though I'd try and offer Dickey/Revere/+ for Ross and see if AJ bites (knowing him, it's possible). I'd also use a combination of Osuna and Hendriks in the 5th spot to maximize their innings limits with one beginning in the rotation and ending in the bullpen and vice versa for the other. I would keep Sanchez in AAA with one of Shapiro's development trainers to try, as they may, to convert Sanchez into a strikeout pitcher with a larger arsenal.
Nafro Verified Member Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 I like the idea of Zimmerman and Kazmir as free agent targets.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Pillar about to be interviewed on MLB Network radio

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Pillar very complimentary of the guys acquired mid season Great chemistry and loads of talent he says
Slugger Verified Member Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 maybe Shaprio wants Bautista, Encarnacion traded for assets while we still can then maybe trade for another bat, like Jay Bruce Bruce >> Bautista All day! Amirite?!
Trouba95 Old-Timey Member Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 Would the White Sox part with Quintana?
BTS Community Moderator Posted October 31, 2015 Author Posted October 31, 2015 Would the White Sox part with Quintana? I doubt there's a deal to made made between the two teams for Quintana.
Laika Community Moderator Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 Would the White Sox part with Quintana? Sure! Donaldson straight up?
500LevelSTH Verified Member Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 Maybe Shapiro recognizes the gift horse of a team hes been handed and seizes the day. only a moron could manage to not be a contender in 2016 with the parts and budget at hand. Shapiro is clearly not a moron, his employers are. Pretty safe bet if Jays are better than 50-51 at break and the seats are selling, theres more money to spend. Even so, $140m is enough to win a WS.
baubau Verified Member Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 Sure! Donaldson straight up? He said Quintana, not Sale!
Trouba95 Old-Timey Member Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 Who's our back up catcher next season?
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 Stro Zimmer Kazmir Dickey Hutch 2-3 bullpen pieces. I think you guys are drastically under-estimating zimmerman's market. One poster said something like 5 for 85....look at what porcello got. Zimmerman will get close to what Lester got last year. I'm willing to pay for quality free agents...even overpay, but the jays won't sign zimmer.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 Wonder if Shapiro offers Estrada the QO. I would think its obvious Estrada won't be back but theres a strong chance Estrada would decline and then you get the draft pick. Little risky but a pretty good reward if he declines.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 It was alleged or assumed by many here that it was the previous regime's preference to trade prospects away to improve team rather than to sign free agents, pitchers in particular. Given the good team inherited by the new regime, it should be a walk in the park to sign 2 or 3 FA pitchers to turn this team into a 95-win team.
Governator Community Moderator Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 I'd still like to see Hendriks have a fair shot as a starter again in Spring.
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 I'd still like to see Hendriks have a fair shot as a starter again in Spring. Same. It's a long shot, but maybe the increased velo is for real and not just a result of pitching out of the BP, just like it was for Carrasco in 2013/2014.

That velo is real, but I suspect he`ll have to bring it down a few ticks to be a starter again, like where he was before. I dunno if that works. But maybe he can try it in ST.
Scion Verified Member Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 I'd still like to see Hendriks have a fair shot as a starter again in Spring. Why? He is a replacement level starter and ace reliever. It seems like an obvious move to keep him in the pen.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 I'd still like to see Hendriks have a fair shot as a starter again in Spring. When he came in long relief it seemed he threw 93-94 so there may be something to that. But do you want to be yo-yoing him around like that after he proved to be so successful in the pen?
Cyborg Verified Member Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 Why? He is a replacement level starter and ace reliever. It seems like an obvious move to keep him in the pen. We have no idea what he is as a starter after the velo increase. He was 93-94 in the playoff game where he went deep.

I would rather not litter the roster with a ton of 1B/DH types again.

I'll pass on Morneau. Just let Cola play 1st most days. Then we can have EE play 1st for some games and let Tulo/Bautista DH occasionally.
