EMK19 Verified Member Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 Probably false hope here, but I wonder if these last few weeks off may have helped Mark B regain some strength in his arm at all... Not that he really helps our situation as his lefty splits are terrible and is not a reliever type, but he does have the experience at least compared to most of the other options...
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 Not eligible, meat. Are you sure, I believe if he's on the 40 man, he's eligible by injury. It's in the new CBA...Hurl posted it earlier, late August or something.
thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 hard not to laugh... and cry at the same time. Why can't 2013 Delabar be a thing again?
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 Why can't 2013 Delabar be a thing again? we could have really used an elite Delabar but it's been #underthebar for 2 years.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 Are you sure, I believe if he's on the 40 man, he's eligible by injury. No you have to pick from your 40-man as of September 1st. Thats why I was shocked Hynes and Girodo were not added to the roster.
closetjaysfan Verified Member Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 Is Delabar ready to pitch in the biggest game of his life? He pitched 2.1 innings in all of September and gave up 7 runs on 8 hits with 1 k. Buehrle hasnt looked so hot lately. Hutch sucks on the road and out of the BP so he isnt ideal for the next 2 games either. Sadly, Francis is probably the best option ... Basically, we should all hope Loup's issues work themselves out, for more than just the obvious reason.

EMK19 Verified Member Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 Interestingly this is only our second game 5 victory in a 7-game series in our history. Up to now we had been a dismal 1-6 in them, with that lone victory coming in the 1993 ALCS.

THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 Martin needs to flip the script with Price on Friday. Let Price use more changeups and curves instead of the heavy reliance on 4-seamers and cutters. Don't call a bad game please Martin, throw off their timing.

Don't think Martin can be at fault with Price at times.... Who shakes you off the most? I would say David Price. Really? Maybe you’re OK with that. He’s pretty good… Absolutely. He’s really good. Do you think it’s because you’re working together for the first time, or is it just his style? I think he has an idea of what he wants to do every pitch. He doesn’t shake me off that much, but he has an instinctual feel. Before he’s even set, he knows what he wants to do and he’s waiting for the sign. A lot of other guys will just follow which way I’m going. Hmmm well then he better get together with Price before hand and plan something different than what Price has been doing.

It feels icky to speculate but I assumed only something with his child would keep him away and be treated this way. I hope I am wrong.

I hope the Jays don't play him and wish they'd put him on the DL or didn't have him at all. Family situations can be tough and if its something keeping a guy away from his team during the post season you probably don't want him pitching while its still on his mind.
Cookie Verified Member Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 I thought I read somewhere (maybe even here?) that the Jays have petitioned MLB to put Loup on the DL but it hadn't been decided yet.
reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 Delabar would be the right choice. He's a strikeout pitcher too which can come in handy with runners on base and less than two outs. I mean, if you're picking the lesser of a bunch of evils. I personally don't want to watch a 4.5 BB/9 reliever in any playoff game but that's just me.

They are less likely to get that big hit and he's the most likely to get us a K.

BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 Delabar by a mile. He can be used as a reverse split lefty specialist as long as there is an open bag or two lol That's ballsy. Pardon pun. But I like the call and think it's worth the risk. Shot @ redemption again for him.
