nextyear Verified Member Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 You try hard CHP, eh? Keep throwing out the bait, you'll do well. There's a hook, line, sinker, everywhere. Nope, just worried about these Kansas City hitters. By the way, you know I am not this former CHP poster?
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 I love you all BJMB!!! Our boys won, I helped destroy Cueto's psyche, and we met Gerard Butler, http://s29.postimg.org/mkyizll5j/facebook_20151020_000857.png saw Eugene Levy and Brendan Shanahan (sitting directly beside out section in the same row, right behind the Jays dugout) http://s23.postimg.org/4lly32pm2/IMG_20151019_230153.jpg And had an epics time!!

EMK19 Verified Member Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 While that definitely did not end on a note that I would have liked, win is a win at the end of the day. Glad that the hitting finally came around, great to see JD and Tulo having big offensive games. Huge kudos to Goins for stepping up his game and coming up big on all fronts today after that game 2 letdown. I love players who can bounce back and respond like this from tough circumstances, I look for that a lot in a good ballplayer. ...Jose really needs to be moved out to 1st base/DH full time by 2017 (if we re-sign him) and needs to be slowly phased into it starting next year. I love the guy (as my avatar would show) but RF defence has regressed way too much for us to tolerate for much longer and if he happens to be stubborn about playing RF when contract talks come up then we need to move on from him. In general we really need to stop making those silly errors we saw today... KC is making us pay on every single one of them. Inexcusable error by Smoak there in the 9th, can't have a defensive replacement screw up like that. But in all, just happy that we won to get back into this. I hope Dickey will be able to cool off those KC bats tomorrow with the dome closed... as long as he can limit his walks and HRs I think Royals hitters will have trouble string multiple small hits together like how they have thus far. Hopefully Chris Young won't be another one of those Gallardo-type of guys and we can get to him.
37stieb Verified Member Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 They are getting unbelievably blessed on contact. Their BABIP is outrageous. You think the laws of averages catches up with these guys. Lots of hit balls finding holes consistently. Never seen such hitting like that

That leaves a huge problem for toronto buy moving JB to 1st as we have to deal with Cola, Smoak and especially EE.

I think you can roll with one of Colabello or Smoak as a 1B (cut ties with the other), and then have Bautista DH or play 1st for a bunch of the games and have the 1B sit. This seems like a sensible approach to slowly get him to become a first baseman and seems realistic but not what I would do. People may not agree with this, and I love Bautista, but going hard after Jason Heyward for RF is what would be my #1 priority this offseason. Not Price, not Greinke, Upton, etc. I'd bust the bank for Heyward and move Bautista to 1st. Might be an unpopular opinion but that's in the Jays' best interest IMO.
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Was at the game tonight. Second row behind the Jays dug out. Amazing atmosphere. I've never been to a playoff game before. I thought the place was going to burst after Tulo's home run (and then again after Tulo's ejection).

We'll need to make a decision on which two of the three options we want to commit ourselves to long term. I can't see both Bats and EE coming back in 2017 to be honest with you, I'm thinking it'll be one or the other.
EMK19 Verified Member Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 BTW, what was the issue with Revere after he ran down the first baseline? I was at a bar and the commentary was drowned out, couldn't hear what they were saying. He looked in discomfort but it didn't seem like a leg problem...

How about moving JB to 1st try and keep EE for 3 year contract and since Smoak is a switch hitter with power, keep him. He may eventually hit a curve ball in 2016. I would miss Cola's hitting for sure. No place to put him. Unless he can learn to play LF. (laughter erupts)

intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Nope. The only celebrity I saw was the only celebrity I ever look for (and got to meet back in September): Geddy Lee

Strange that Levy and Butler didn't get to do the same, but maybe they didn't want to?

At first, I thought this was their MO - getting contacts and somehow finding holes. But then looking at the reg season, they are only a little bit better than the Jays (.301 vs .298). They are not even in the top 10 Only hope that they won't be so lucky for the rest of the series...

nonamejays Verified Member Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Revere Donaldson Davis Bautista Encarnacion Tulowitzki Martin Pillar Travis/Goins Have fun with that. Even if you just sign a couple of middle of the road starters and run with Stroman, New Guy #1, New Guy #2, Dickey, Hutchison/Sanchez/Osuna, that might be a 100+ win team.
fireballW Verified Member Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 I really enjoy the idea of getting a 1B that can really mash. Only issue is it takes away the DH spot with Edwin. For instance when Jose was injured earlier in the year, you would have had to sit him, EE or Davis each game.

Davis will cost more than he's worth. Might even cost the same as Heyward. I think if this playoff appearance has made anything painfully obvious, it's that upgrading RF should be an absolute priority.

Pompey can play about half the games on RF with Bats the other half. Bats can DH the other half with EE playing 1st. On days we need to go power heavy Vs LhP RF bats 1B Cola DH EE On other days Vs RHP RF Pompey 1B EE DH Bautista
