Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 Pretty cringe-worthy. 34-year old vet and a young fringy kid involved, I would have expected something like "I should have taken charge. I didn't. It's my bad". Maybe Goins should have caught the ball after calling him off.

thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 Maybe Goins should have caught the ball after calling him off. Yeah but you don't out your teammate publicly like that when s*** like this happens.
BTS Community Moderator Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 Maybe Goins should have caught the ball after calling him off. Not really the point. What's done is done. Nothing is accomplished by having the leader of the team put the responsibility on a rookie.
EMK19 Verified Member Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 I wish I could overlap the highlights of that 7th inning with that commentary near the end from the famous Plano East/John Tyler Football game: "Oh no.. OH NO! NO! BAH GAWD OH GOD NO! COME ON NO!....NO... I don't believe it... God bless those kids, I'm sick, I wanna throw up..." ...exactly what I felt that inning as the wheels started coming off.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 Not really the point. What's done is done. Nothing is accomplished by having the leader of the team put the responsibility on a rookie. So he should take responsibility for doing the right thing on play by not crashing into his second baseman? Goins was emphatically calling him off waiving his arms. I guess Bautista should have ignored that and went for the ball anyway.

Maybe I'm imagining things but ever since that Pillar/Tulo incident there seems to be a lot of uneasiness and apprehensiveness between the fielders on those in-between popups...
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 Yeah but you don't out your teammate publicly like that when s*** like this happens. He probably shouldn't have said no confusion on the play because clearly Goins was confused. He reacted to Goins and stopped like your taught in little league.

I really think JB is one of those guys that you absolutely hate if he was on the other team; i think it's the edge that motivates him and it's what makes him a great player; given that and looking at the replay multiple times, I tend to agree that in _his_ mind, there was no confusion. He actually slowed down to let Goins have space and time to catch it. I tend to agree though that being the veteran and leader of the team, he maybe should have "taken one for the team" but to call him a goat is too much...

But everyone knows that already. There's no need for the superstar 10-year vet to tell the national media that it's on Goins.

It was Goins ball all the way, in Goins' mind and JB's mind; the only point is that being the leader, he should have stuck up for Goins and take one for the team effectively
Candy Maldonado Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 Douchtista should have been more supportive.
art_vandelay275 Verified Member Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 I still don't think Price was that bad and the Royals are that good. I'm just going to chalk it up to the payback for the bottom of the 7th on Thu
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 Price pitched a good ball game. He has been great during his time here.

nextyear Verified Member Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 The Blue Jays suffered a tough loss to the Rangers in game 2 when they lost 6-4 in extra innings after Stroman had pitched a great game. The circumstances were different in that there wasn't any glaring miscues that caused the loss. However, what is similar is that they now have a day off to regroup prior to the 3rd game.

The first inning. Of course it wasn't THE inning where things decisively got away, but it all still adds up later and we gave up two unnecessary runs in the first.

I guess the big difference is that the Blue Jays came back and even took a lead so the miscues were mostly overlooked.
MorrisSmit Verified Member Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 Gibby's BP management the last 2 games have been sickened. Stop letting these bums continue pitching after they let the bases fill up with runners. Why is Hawkins even pitching instead of Hendricks?
EMK19 Verified Member Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 I'm wondering more about why Tepera was even included at all. He's obviously not going to be utilized at any important vs. LHB situation so all that jazz about his splits vs. lefties being a factor is bull, he won't see any time in a non-blowout situation. We may as well have brought along another bench piece instead if this was the case...
Slugger Verified Member Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 Him not to be a slap hitter. Slap hitters suck. He has a career .677 OPS. Do you not understand the value of the basic stat OPS? .677 is f***ing horrible. No wonder you f***ed up your stubhub tickets. You're a moron for applying OPS to hitters like Revere or any hitter with little power. OBP is much more important and he puts up a pretty palatable .330-.350 OBP OBP > SLG.
MrMariusz Verified Member Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 Stupid to leave Price out there to blow up. This isnt a regular season game... every inning counts.
flafson Verified Member Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 Zaun made a good point, they stole the signs from Martin and every time they had a runner at 2nd base, the hitter knew what was coming.
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 I am starting to think all GDT need to be locked 5 minutes after a Game or some of you might be sick and need professional Help!!!! Lol

Yeah it was kinda odd that they couldn't touch Price for 6 innings and all of a sudden they got 4 hits off of him.

Yeah I definitely think they figured out the signs and were relaying from 2nd base. It's really the only explanation as to how they were ON every pitch Price threw. That being said, its Martin's responsibility to change the signs if there has been a runner on 2nd for a long time. There are no excuses for Price, he has to pitch better. Goins' error is not why we lost.
