I love how everyone was saying it was his regular side session day anyway, then Price comes out and says he doesn't even throw side sessions.

He throws side sessions. It wasn't his side day.

I really don't think all this s*** matters in the playoffs. He'll be so amped up, one less day of rest is probably a bit helpful.

Too much overreaction with the Price thing imo. It was 1-0 after the top of the 6th, Gibby has to be prepared in case of an implosion (This wouldn't be something new to Jays pitchers), he has zero lefties in the pen and in the event of runners on with Morales at the plate (Who by the way has hit 4hrs this postseason) he would at least have the option ready. You have to win game 5 to get to game 6... it should be a nonstory anyway, nothing came from it.

You'd almost think this is the first time a team has considered using their best pitcher in relief in an elimination game.

+ he was going to throw that day anyways.

I am glad we didn't have to use him but I agree. If Cecil was around we would have seen him up @ that time. No LHP puts Gibby in a tough spot in an elimination game.

I felt that was the problem with Dickey, too much rest. The more we leaned on him in August and September, the better he performed. If we make it to the WS, I'd have him pump out a bunch of knucklers in a sim game a couple of days before his start.

Selective memory applies because our team resides from a mysterious foreign land where American history and rules don't apply..

MadBum's performance last year will only be applied to this topic if it were an American team doing it.

Blair and Brunt said the problem with the national reporters is their lack of familiarity with the Jays and their issues (e.g. Cecil). Buster Olney and Keith Law, in their podcast today, said much the same thing. Olney also mentioned Price's reputation as a team-first player. And that it's near impossible to envisage the usage of Price without his complete consent.

Nothing to see here. But it has been interesting to note the sense of anti-Canadian bias in the reporting of the Jays. Whether it's sign-stealing, bad attitudes, a misreading of the Jays' talents, or not knowing how to handle stud aces, it seems one-sided and agenda-driven (I say that as a reasonably neutral Brit observing from the UK).

In a guest appearance on The Jeff Blair Show Thursday morning, the Blue Jays general manager said Price is pleased with his current role with Toronto and, in fact, wants to be used even more.

“He was completely on board with it. He wants to pitch every day,” Anthopoulos told co-hosts Jeff Blair and Stephen Brunt on Sportsnet 590 The Fan. “He wanted to pitch that game R.A. (Dickey) pitched in Arlington when he went 4.2 innings. He wanted to start that game. From an outsider’s standpoint — how people think he should or shouldn’t be used — that’s fine. Everyone has the right to have their own opinion. David is completely on board. He’s absolutely involved in the process. We involve our players in everything we do.

“David has talked to us as an organization — to us, to (John Gibbons), to Pete Walker — that he’s ready to go,” Anthopoulos said. “He’s ready to throw out of the (bullpen). It was discussed before (Game 5) so I don’t know why there would be any surprises. It was talked about before that he could get up in this game. He was completely on board with it.”

Blowing game 2 really hurts...should be up 3-2....Why does price ignore his curveball when he gets into trouble? It was effective and he abandoned it against the lefties. Maybe he should not shake off martin so much. he needs another look to keep hitters off his fastball, change.

Not sure if people noticed but during game 4 (I think it was game 4) Price wrote his own name on Gibby's board of available hitters from the left. So it said Carrera and then had Price hand written just below.

He went from a Starter to an RP, happens all the time.

Nope. He had one of the biggest velocity spikes on record. Definitely not the norm for a starter to reliver conversion.

Really, I'm under the assumption, most SP's can dial it up, for an inning or 2. Sanchez is another example, heck Cecil is another, it happens more often than not.

David Price has joked about wanting to pitch everyday. I don't understand why people can write this garbage without thinking. Sure he was getting loose incase he had to come in and he had a good reasoning for that as well. He didn't throw many pitches at max effort. He was watching most of that inning. Last thing I'm worried about is if hes tired:

The other thing I don't get is why they keep saying that if they get David Price warming up, he HAS to be brought into the game. Just last night Harold Reynolds was saying....ah.
