candymartinez Verified Member Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 Seems like the right decision to start Hamels. Yup. Starting your best pitcher that's on regular rest when you need to win makes perfect sense to me.
FrozenRopes Verified Member Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 Borderline retarded decision for the Rangers No worries id rather face the LHP then the guy who has f***ed us up 3 times this year I think this is gamesmanship, I think they are saying Hamels but they will start Gallardo
nonamejays Verified Member Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 The jays were starting to get to Gallardo in game one, hence the early yank by the Rangers. Hamels was better in game 2. That's the guy I would start if I was Bannister. Plus you have Gallardo in the pen ready if Hamels blows chunks.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted October 13, 2015 Author Posted October 13, 2015 Hamels is 100x better than Gallardo. I don't care if hes left-handed. I fully expect him to pitch well.
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 Yup. Starting your best pitcher that's on regular rest when you need to win makes perfect sense to me. Stroman has been our best pitcher since he returned and he IS starting on his regular 4 days Wednesday, so what's the problem again?

I remember he ended the 5th by getting our best hitter to strike out and ground out.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 So are we all going to ignore that the 4th outfielder has been the Jays MVP this series.
art_vandelay275 Verified Member Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 Seems like the right decision to start Hamels. From our perspective, I think Hamels is the more ideal. For them, I think it's a toss-up. Yeah Hamels is the better pitcher than Gallardo no doubt. From a match-up point of view, Gallardo has owned us. I think I read/heard something during Game 1 that the Rangers think sooner or later, the Jays hitters are going to make adjustment against Gallardo. Maybe that's the reason... Either way, I could just hear the debate and rage now over in Rangers land about how stupid Bannister is for starting Hamels and Gallardo.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 I think this is gamesmanship, I think they are saying Hamels but they will start Gallardo Hahah nice joke
pickoff22 Verified Member Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 My gut tells me we're going to bitch slap Hamels. Of course I have the gut of a massive Jays fan, but I think game 5 will be one where we get an easy win and beat up on the jackass that didn't want to pitch here.
Kevin9394 Verified Member Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 Look at it this way, from a rotation pov, if you save Stroman and Price for Game 5, neither could pitch until Game 3 of the ALCS. Now look at it from a rest perspective. If Price starts Game 5, Stroman pitches Game 1 on 7 days rest (may not be as effective). If Stroman pitches Game 5, Price pitches Game 1 on 8 days rest (has proven to not be as effective). With today's move, Price and Stroman can start Game 2 and 3 in order, on their regular 4 days rest each. It's a great move and anyone questioning it doesn't see the big picture. I'm not questioning why Price was in, I'm just disgusted with the timing.

THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 Was talking about starting Hamels. It's a no brainer. Ok sorry, I thought you were being facetious.
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 I'm not questioning why Price was in, I'm just disgusted with the timing. That I don't disagree with!
art_vandelay275 Verified Member Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 The other interesting bit was that Gibbons said Price is not available on Wed which is what's being circulated. However Price did not rule that out. He's going to go out and do his normal stuff the day after a start and see how he feels. He is definitely leaving it open With Loup back and Price being hit pretty good, maybe Price becomes the situational guy...
EMK19 Verified Member Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 From Texas' perspective, you gotta go with Hamels' playoff (and in general) experience. Gallardo has been great vs. us but we showed signs of getting to him near the end of his start in game 1 and Bannister was correct in pulling the plug early. You can only trust in him so much IMO.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 If the Rangers go with Gallardo you wonder if Gibby will put in Smoak.
Masterbather Verified Member Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 Hamels is the right move. You can have Gallardo in the pen if needed. Regardless of whether it's Gallardo or Hamels, I want Bello in the lineup.
BTS Community Moderator Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 Has to be Hamels. He's an ace capable of shutting down any lineup on any night.
pickoff22 Verified Member Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 Compare it to us using Estrada over Stroman if that was an option. This place would lose it's s***
43211234 Verified Member Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 Didn't like the Price decision, but at least it's Stroman starting.
BTS Community Moderator Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 Compare it to us using Estrada over Stroman if that was an option. This place would lose it's s*** That's actually a pretty perfect comp.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 Didn't like the Price decision, but at least it's Stroman starting. In my eyes i didn't mind the decision... They obviously had it in their head that Stroman was the best option for game 5 and want Price for game 1 because you can't keep him in the Pen obviously....
reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 If the Rangers go with Gallardo you wonder if Gibby will put in Smoak. It's Hamels. The Rangers aren't completely retarded so it's Hamels.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 Great Team Win!!!!!!!!!!!! Osuna Matata!!!!!!!!!!
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 Great Team Win!!!!!!!!!!!! Osuna Matata!!!!!!!!!! Ill second that. Just a huge game and win amidst all the second guessing. Will be Hamels in 5....Rangers wont get too cute with Gallardo. Then again I thought our ace should be starting in game 4 or 5 so what do I know.
art_vandelay275 Verified Member Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 whos this woman asking these awful questions? what's bad about her is that she is trying to stir s*** up... She has already concluded that the reason why Dickey was pulled early was because Gibby doesn't his knuckler. She tried that with Gibby and got no where so the first thing Dickey gets is essentially "why doesn't your manager trust your knuckler. What an idiot!!

Just saying lol
