RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 Man I think Price should have pitched today
nextyear Verified Member Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 I like the lineup. Maybe after sitting out yesterday, Russel Martin will have a big day. The Blue Jays will need to get ahead early, otherwise there will a lot of very nervous Blue Jays fans. Win or lose, we get to look forward to one more game this afternoon.
Professional Hitter Verified Member Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 I would have gone with Price as well. Let's hope Dickey has command today.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 ok. time to end the second guessing and focus on this line up and starter. Hope RA puts together another solid start and the guys take the approach they had from the 2nd inning on last night at the plate. E-Rex is locked in. Thanks Jonn. Go Jays!!!!!
West Texas Forever Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 Man I think Price should have pitched today Everyone with a brain thinks that. Gibby is the worst manager in post season history.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 Nothing wrong letting Dickey start and then going to Price in the first couple of innings if Dickey doesn't "have it". With Dickey you really only have to watch 10-15 pitches to see if he has a good knuckleball that day. Even if Dickey pitches reasonably well I'd only let him go through the order twice then bring in Price/Stroman.
pickoff22 Verified Member Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 10 more wins to go, let's do this!
nextyear Verified Member Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 Man I think Price should have pitched today I think fans should relax. If by chance the Rangers get ahead by a couple of runs early then David Price will come in to pitch. But if Dickey has a good game and the Blue Jays have a comfortable lead then both Price and Stroman will be available for the 5th game in Toronto. That gives Toronto a better chance to win the deciding 5th game if it comes to that.

West Texas Forever Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 The scary thing is you know Fielder is going to explode this game or next, same with Hamilton..... I say the Jays win again tonight but I think Fielder is hitting a ball up to the hillbilly neighbors to the North (Oklahoma)

I watched Dickey in Anaheim in Aug get touched up for 5 in the 1st and then cruise for 5-6 more innings after that. The knuckler can come and go. Conversely we have seen him cruising...then a couple BBs and /or a passed ball and a bomb in later innings.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 The rangers have hit the fastball well this series, i'd rather have dickey than price on short rest....

He hit a couple mistakes hard last night. Fielder we need to be careful with.

Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 Everyone with a brain thinks that. Gibby is the worst manager in post season history. After the gong show that was Jeff Bannister yesterday, I'd dispute that. Gibby makes kind of questionable decisions now and again, but rarely a series of moves as egregious as that.

However, if that's your logic why not start with your best (we did acquire him for these situations) and have the inferior guy in the BP instead of starting an inferior guy with your best waiting to come in if we fall behind. It doesn't make sense to be, but it's Gibby's decision and not the fans.

Yea but man this is the playoffs, you can't fall behind 5 runs and expect to score 6 runs, that doesn't happen in the playoffs. I will try and stay positive and hope Dickey has it tonight and if he doesn't it has to be a quick hook, like if he can't get out of the 2nd inning he has to be pulled.
Professional Hitter Verified Member Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 this isn't the regular season, dickey won't have that kind of rope....historically fireball pitchers on short rest is not a good idea. so is price going to start warming in the first with Dickey's first pitch? the point is that when he implodes, he does it quickly and catestrophically. let's just hope he has his command today and we're all just playing armchair manager...
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 Everyone with a brain thinks that. Gibby is the worst manager in post season history. Actually? Really even, everybody with even half a brain is thinking " SHUT THE f*** UP" thank you !
West Texas Forever Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 Actually? Really even, everybody with even half a brain is thinking " SHUT THE f*** UP" thank you ! If you think Gibby is classified as a "good manager" you have to be kidding man. If you dated a girl for a few years, it sucked and didn't work out would you then let her back in your life a few years later and older and expect anything different? Nope, this was such a bad rehire.
Caper Verified Member Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 Man I think Price should have pitched today I keep going back and forth, back and forth.... In the end. Dickey with a short leash. Does anyone else want Price to go two innings today just to guarantee Stroman in game 5?
BTS Community Moderator Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 Everyone with a brain thinks that. Gibby is the worst manager in post season history. Did you not watch Bannister leave Perez in to face Donaldson, Bautista and Edwin for a third time yesterday? Have you not watched Ned Yost hit Alex Gordon 8th all playoffs?

Does anyone else want Price to go two innings today just to guarantee Stroman in game 5? Price will go for as long as they need him if Dickey shits the bed. Could be 2 innings could be 7 innings. They have to do whatever it takes and win and put Stroman in for game 5.

L54 Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 Here's hoping that last night was the prequel to this offense busting out. Dickey will be fine. The Jays are going to need the bats to blow this thing open. Put some pressure on the Rangers early. Let them feel that 2-0 lead start slip away and start envisioning game 5 in Toronto. I never thought I'd imagine being down 2-0 and not being worried but I haven't been. This is the best team in the AL and if they can get the series back to Toronto riding some hot bats game 5 will lean heavily in their favor.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 The "Dickey Effect" on this GDT sucks. He is our guy today like it or not (I dont) but venting is probably better in the "game 4 starter" thread? I hope he comes up big for us. Go Jays!
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 Not enough confidence in Dickey on this board. 3.11 ERA in 150 innings since June 1st while averaging almost 7 innings a start. Dickey gets it done today.
