His stuff was great but he struggled with his command a bit. I'm hopeful that he can be a 5th starter next year, or at the very least a strong long relief option. Nice to have a young arm like that available

What a dumb thing to say.

He just wants to make sure we are paying attention to him rather than the massive game going on right now.

Just want to remind you guys, that it's been statistically proven that there's no such thing as clutch.

I don't think I've ever sworn so much in my life. That was seriously pathetic. 0-12 with RISP? Can't even put the ball in play with a runner on 3rd and no outs? Why bring in Navarro for Goins? Great clutch game from their MVP, yeesh.

Now we get to watch Synergaard and D'Arnaud in the World Series (great trade AA). And this team has no pitching rotation left, the bullpen is terrible, and AA has traded away all the young arms. Can't wait to suffer through another couple losing seasons before AA and Gibbons are FINALLY fired and we get to rebuild again. That was their one chance.

Are you even a Blue Jays fan? I would just stop watching the team period if I felt this way (and do us all a favour).

Posted this in the Gibbons vent thread but I guess it bares repeating here too...

I don't get his decision to PH Navarro. I want to first make it clear that I am not placing any blame on Navarro whatsoever.

In Game 2 in a similar situation (man on base), he uses Pennington as a PH against Davis. But all of a sudden tonight he goes to Navarro. Can I ask why!? What stats, numbers, etc. did you dig up that told you all of a sudden to use Navarro in that situation? I have no problem with him PHing Navarro. I would just like to know why in one game he goes to Pennington and then three games later he uses someone else. Is it totally a gut call or something? It would have to be because otherwise I don't get it.

Navarro probably has better contact ability. And, really, any contact probably would have scored Pompey there. Plus Navarro needed to come in anyway to replace Martin.

I was fine with it. It would have had a greater chance of turning out favourable if not for the completely ******** strike calls.

I just say this because this team just cannot play small ball. When the pitching is tough and they get a break or two, they can't do anything with it. Their record in 1-run games and when scoring 4 or less runs is brutal. They were 0-6 this post season when scoring 4 or less runs.

I think they need to move Donaldson out of the two hole and into a position where he can drive in EVEN MORE runs.

My thoughts were to move a contact hitter into the 2 hole instead of a power hitter. This is where I see Devon Travis hitting..or even Ryan Goins. I think not only does it bode well for us, but it also allows Revere to do what he does best...use his speed. For the life of me, I dunno how a guy who stole at least 30 bags a season in his career just did not run at all with the Jays. He's just as fast and dangerous on the bases as Pompey given the chance, but because where he hit, he usually remained at the base he hit to so Donaldson/Bautista/Edwin could hit homers without the threat of Revere getting thrown out.

The order I'm proposing in hopes it can give us that extra push..

Ben Revere

Devon Travis (he hit leadoff for us for awhile)

Jose Bautista

Josh Donaldson

Edwin Encarnacion

Troy Tulowitzki

Chris Colabello/Justin Smoak

Russell Martin

Kevin Pillar

To me, this is more of a lineup built in a similar fashion to the Royals lineup. Two good contact hitters at the top of the lineup....the power 3-7, and then 8-9. Luckily for us we got Pillar hitting 9th..not only does his speed help Revere out..but it also allows us to play small ball effectively if say Pillar gets on 1st with a walk. We could hit and run, steal a base with Pillar...get into second. Get Revere to bunt over and you have Travis/Bautista to drive in a runner from 3rd with 1 out.

I just believe having Donaldson at the 2nd spot is very risky. When he's hitting well...he's driving Revere in with homers and extra base hits, but when he's not hitting (which is a real possibility seeing as how he failed 70% of the time this year)...Revere isn't running, the Jays are not scoring.

Thoughts on the new order?

Also, here is the Blue Jays version of the Royals lineup:

Revere

Tulowitzki

Pillar

Bautista

Encarnacion

Colabello

Travis

Donaldson

Martin

Yes. We scored like 200 more runs than the Royals but let's try to be exactly like them.

Awful.

And our record in 1-run games? 13-35. When scoring 4 or less runs? like 15-50 and 0-6 in the postseason.

This is basically an order that will allow us to use our speed and score EVEN more runs when the pitching is getting good..it allows us to still hit power home runs, but also allows us to play small ball when we have to. The way the order was set up this year, the only chance for small ball happened at the bottom of the order. Why not try it at the top of the order instead? Seeing as how they get more at bats. Just my thoughts

Yes they should have stopped scoring so much so they can win games 3-2 instead of 7-2.

I wish I could Thank this post forever. Even my girlfriend is tired of the one-run argument, because she knows when I see it I'll start to discredit it and keep going and going and going and going and going and going and going and oh my god shut the f*** up can I just watch the food network in peace

They won 93 games after being a .500 team in late July...
