American League Division Series Game 2

Texas Rangers @ Toronto Blue Jays (12:45 p.m., MLB Network)

MLB Network announcers: Bob Costas, Jim Kaat

ESPN Radio announcers: Chris Berman, Rick Sutcliffe

Costas and Kaat have been good for us.

So, what are some examples of teams in the LDS who lost the first game but came back to win series? Anyone know off hand?

The last time it was done (in the AL at least) was 2011 by the Tigers vs. the Yanks I think. I also recall Oakland came back from game 1 loss to the Tigers to take a 2-1 lead few years ago, although they still lost that series.

1996 Rangers Vs. Yankees. Rangers took the first game.

That is back in the day when I was a Yankee fan.

Is there actually anything tangible suggesting that that a long layoff has a negative impact on a pitcher's performance?

all i know is when asked how he felt after 3 days rest, keuchel said he feels better than if he would have had a long rest

Pitchers tend to be awful on short rest.

I would have to pay an extra $20 a month to get the channel package that includes mlb network in the US

Long time lurker of the forum, just made an account to post this.

Gibbons is a joke, the way he let his team cruise after winning the division and letting his team celebrate.

As a patriots fan, Bill Belichek doesn't give 2 flying sh!ts when they win their division. He literally says good job but we've done nothing yet.

Watching the Jays cele like they just won the World Series was literally disgusting, regardless if it was the first time in over 20 years.

To me, that gave me the vibe they were satisfied with what they've done, even though they've done sh!t all. Not a championship mentality at all.

f*** off. Did you see the astros party after they clinched wildcard. Then they shut out yankees. Let's win tomorrow.

especially in a short 5 game series

Yup. Momentum plays a big factor and for the first time in about 2 months the Jays do not have any momentum.

Man, some of you guys need to stop with the narratives. Please.

Price was kinda s*** today - that's it. Dude has thrown over 225 innings this year. It happens. Jays couldn't muster many big hits - that's it. Teams lose. It's no different than any other loss except that you're all wound tighter than springs (me included of course). It's loss number 70 out of 163 games.

And no, home field advantage wouldn't have changed anything for anyone still banging on about that. The Jays would still be going up against a good baseball team and would still have had a chance at losing against the Astros too. What does HFA even have to do with any of this anyway? The Jays lost at home in Game 1 of a series they already held HFA over.

you had me at Gibbons is a joke then it all went downhill.

We just observed Price having a below-average start. He does that multiple times every year. Blaming it on his rest is lazy.

but it's less lazy than blaming it on Taylor Swift and curses. If the Taylor Swift curse is real I do have some crotch dusting, which she queefs out in her concerts, turning real men into the men in her songs, theories.

Should remain a lurker.

The Yankees lost their first game against the Rangers in the ALDS at home in 1996. They went on to win the World Series.

Yeah, honestly I don't think there's anything to get up in arms about in this game... if we made silly errors and failed to execute on certain plays, made mental mistakes, Gibby makes a wrong decision on something, etc. then there would be something to be mad about, but overall there wasn't really any of that today. We just simply didn't play well. It's really best to just accept that and move on...
