Should he develop as a pen arm, I'd put a 6/6 on the FB/SL combo from the left side.

I don't agree with this logic. Pitch grades shouldn't change based on role. I don't really get it.

Also, I saw Perdomo for ten pitches and pegged him as a reliever. I should scout.

Velocity is a thing. Some guys like Liam Hendriks see huge jumps in short spurts, some others don't.

Velocity is absolutely a thing. If you're going in for 1 inning you can give max effort this can mean 2-3 mph more jump on the FB. You don't really see Sanchez sitting 97-99 as a starter. Pretty sure you don't see Jesse Chavez sitting mud 90s as a starter either.

Zeuch?

The excitement would lead me to believe it's Zeuch, could it be Hansel or one of the older Bluefield arms?

Hey King. Can you give some kind of list of guys I should be looking at in the minors box-scores? Outside of say Tellez, Pompey, Alford and maybe a couple of others (oh yeah, Vlad Jr.), I don't even know the guys I should be checking up on.

Conner Greene/Rowdy Tellez - New Hampshire

Francisco Rios/Sean Reid Foley/Richard Urena/Anthony Alford - Dunedin

Jon Harris/Max Pentecost/Angel Perdomo/Ryan Borucki - Lansing

Cavan Biggio/Justin Maese/JB Woodman/TJ Zeuch - Vancouver

Jose Espada/Hansel Rodriguez/Vladimir Guerrero Jr/Reggie Pruitt/Edward Olivares - Bluefield

Bo Bichette/DJ Daniels/Guad Chavez/Kevin Vicuna/Travis Hosterman - GCL Blue Jays

I could go on, but thats a decent list. I guess

Bichette looks good right now. He went 66 overall in the draft. If a redraft was held today, where does he go? (I'm basically asking was he a steal at 66).

Probably a similiar spot. It's too early to say if he was a steal or not, he's only ~50 PAs into his pro career. Ask again in 5 years

Can help but keep an eye on Obeso in the GCL too.

Hitting .400 with an obp of .549 doesn't suck. He should probably be challenged with a higher level of ball given that he's 21, but only in his first year stateside

The only thing going against him is that he just turned 21 and he's still in the GCL. They need to start pushing him to see if they have anything there.

I ws editing my post when I saw your post. Agreed, he should be higher, at least to Vancouver to face some higher level college arms. But too say he's "still" in the GCL is a bit misleading since it's his first year in the US playing ball

Where in Iowa are you from?

How bout an update on the guys we gave up at the deadline last year. Seemed like more quantity than quality at the time outside of Norris and Hoffman.

Sure, go ahead.

It's probably too early to judge the prospects on some of those deals but hey why not.

Gose for Travis looks like an absolute steal given what's happening in Detroit with Gose currently. It was already a steal before that.

The Donaldson deal is a win no matter what. Graveman may be able to stick as a back end starter but he's looking pretty fringey. I haven't heard any news about Nolin since it was reported he might need surgery and the Athletics gave up on him pretty quickly. Barreto is the only prospect worth anything there and he's holding his own fairly well given he's a 20 year old in AA. I don't know what his defense has been at like at SS though, seems he's made a lot of errors and has played some 2B which would reduce his value a little if he can't stick at SS.

From the Tulo trade Hoffman is looking pretty good. His FIP isn't great but I assume his xFIP is better and a more realistic reading of his performance. He's in the PCL which I assume is still a launching pad and his peripherals are fine. Good k rate, solid walk rate.

This really needs its own sentence but if I'm not a complete idiot at reading then Jesus Tinoco gave up 37 hits in 13 innings A+ ball. Someone please feel free to correct me there because I don't think that's possible.

I get the distinct sense that Miguel Castro's development may have been f***ed by the Jays and it seems to be continuing in Colorado.

Brentz and Wells from the Lowe trade are not doing well. I doubt Wells is anything. Brentz is walking everyone but he's 21 so I guess he has some time to figure it out.

Jimmy Cordero has just come back from injury this season. Alberto Tirado is either striking out or walking everyone and is also 21 just like Brentz.

In what is becoming a consistent pattern Jairo Labourt is also walking everyone but he's doing while being 22 instead. I feel fairly confident in saying Matt Boyd sucks. I think Norris will do well. He looked good in his starts at AAA after being sent down and he should figure it out and be a solid 2-3 starter.

I think that's it? None of it's too surprising. It's nice that most of the smaller pieces we dealt haven't blossomed this year. As expected the centerpieces in the all the major deals (Hoffman/Norris/Barreto) continue to look like the ones that will make the most impact down the line. Price deal aside I don't think we'll be regretting most of these deals though.

I mean 'still' as in a low level of ball. Not that he's repeated anything.

Nice to see you back! Matt's been fantastic this year, hoping he gets a shot at some point.
