Funny that the scouts were bang on with him when he was mashing 2 years ago. Guess he just doesn't have the bat speed to be a successful hitter.

Maybe he needs the Jose Bautista leg kick hitting class.

Guys, lay off Tellez. He's a big sensitive guy and baseball is hard.

12:38 Is Kevin Smith impressing, beating up on younger competition, or some combination thereof?

Kiley McDaniel

12:38 Toned down a swing that was too loud in college, still has some pop and bat control. Curious to see how long he can sustain it and/or I get to take a look if he gets promoted

FG released their Padres list today. My favourite quote was regarding Mackenzie Gore;

He’s a polished high-school arm who should move quickly, projecting as a No. 3 starter.

All of this hype for a future Ervin Santana.

Wow, their system must be great if Franchy Cordero is their 17th best prospect.

Franchy is the least hyped 70 power 70 speed player in history

70 speed, 60 arm, and 40 defender. Must be retarded.

You guys are really butthurt over Keon Broxton 2.0.

I don't love Cordero, but a 23-year old with 70 power and 70 speed who has crushed AAA and contributed at about a league average rate in the majors probably isn't the 17th best prospect in anybody's system.

Longenhagen and McDaniel drastically undervalue actual MLB contributors on their lists. They didn't even have Ryan Yarbrough in their top-31 Rays prospects even though he projects (and is performing as) a league average MLB starter.

I've thought Fangraphs prospect coverage has been terrible for as long as we've been discussing it, I'm just also not on the Franchy Wagon.

What do you guys think of Tyler O'Neil? Friend of mine played baseball with him when they were young.

Great body, strikes out too much.

Wow - he really throws across his body a lot.

I'm no pitching coach, but I would guess that's probably the reason for both his inconsistent command, and the deception he creates.

JFC! My body is ready for next month's call-up.

Edit: regarding Vlad.

Why do you think he’s getting called up in June?

Who else here thinks Jon Duplantier cracks midseason top 25 prospect lists? Kid has been dynamite since the beginning of last year. Once Buckholtz impending implosion arrives I expect the Dbacks to call him up to the show.

I think Duplantier is pretty exciting but there are others breakout players biding for a top 25 spot and I'm not sure he's necessarily first in line. I mean you never know who will really fall for a given prospect so there's a good chance he cracks *a* top 25 list but I don't think he's a consensus guy and he only has 30 innings in the high minors so I definitely don't think he's that serious of a candidate for a call up.

Biggio with a 2B and 3B tonight 2-4

He’s a real prospect. Guy is flat out raking.

It's mostly the camera angle. He does step a bit towards 3B side though.

11k/9 2bb/9 2.5 fip and just about every start he looks like he is overwhelming batters, inducing a ton of weak contact. He's 23 so he's not young, but I could definitely see him called up post all star break if he keeps it up and there's need in their rotation.

I'll be curious to see which of he and Widener get the first crack at the MLB rotation.

Fun fact: the AA Jackson Generals rotation is absurdly good - Ryan Atkinson and Alex Young also look pretty legit.
