Laika Community Moderator Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 I wonder if Shap/Atkins told him him that he didn't break camp because they couldn't count on him for a strikeout in any situations? And now he's on a mission to prove that he can. I mean, seeing the transformation with Sanchez has started to make me consider things like that. simmer down bud
GD Old-Timey Member Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 Schlereth was a former top prospect I think. Seeing Giolito tomorrow. will try to get as good video as I can
spats Verified Member Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 This has to be the weakest prospect crop in Lansing we've had in a long time. The lineup today is.. http://i.imgur.com/kwWEPaN.png Wow. That is ugly...a far cry from the old days and the Lansing 3.

With Alford out, the only players worth watching down here are McBroom and Conner Greene. The bottom of their lineup is horrible. Heading over to the complex tomorrow to watch an extended spring game...hope Vlady is in the lineup.

Thats on top of Greene, McBroom and Alford (who you listed).

Chavez taught him a new grip on his RHP slider in spring which seems to be working out for him
Iggy Verified Member Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 Anyone know how serious Alford's leg injury is? I see he is the 7 day DL
spats Verified Member Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 Conner Greene and Anthony Alford Urena, Jansen, Robson, Borucki Cardona? Even DJ Davis? Tim Mayza LHP who can touch 97? Thats on top of Greene, McBroom and Alford (who you listed). I forgot Urena . Not excited about Jansen, D.J., Robson. Maysa and Cardona may prove interesting to watch. I only have 2 more weeks down here and would like to see another Borucki outing...he got hit hard the 1st time he pitched. Do you go to the games in Dunedin?

Ryan McBroom is a very old for his level 1B/DH only guy, Jansen is a guy that is often injured but when he plays puts up pretty awesome K to BB numbers at age appropriate numbers and has power potential. I don't see how you can be excited about the former and not the latter. And Objectively he has more potential than Richard "2.5% BB" Urena. THe only intriguing thing about Urena is those 15 homeruns in Lansing, but that appears to be an extreme HR/FB% thing, he hasn't demonstrated power anywhere else and the doubles rate don't show much.

I don't know about transformation, we'll see where his release point is at tonight with a more intimidating line up.

spats Verified Member Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 Watched Vlad Jr in an extended spring game yesterday. Played 3rd and made a nice play on a slow roller before throwing wide to first...popped up both times at bat. Kang was playing for Pittsburg on a rehab assignment. According to Sal Fasano, Loup has started pitching and should be in an extended spring game soon.
