We needed him for Starting Pitching depth incase on of our Starters went down. You know the thing that a lot other orgs just develop lol.

Exactly, and maybe we have that if we didn't trade away the rare diamonds in the rough we call developmental. Frasso shoving in AA right now would sure be nice instead of White getting shelled in AAA as the next call-up.

Bicep sounds much better than the infamous “triceps injury” that is basically code for elbow f***ed.

Hopefully nothing too serious

I thought it was forearm.

You mean a guy like Nick Frasso?

The fact that they had to trade for someone like White after being in charge for so long is a direct org failure.

I’d say that the fact that they drafted Frasso in the first place is reason for optimism tho.

Mitch White was a pretty interesting commodity when he was on the cusp and breaking into the league.

His stuff numbers graded well and he held his own and the Dodgers had a track record for producing those kinds of pitchers.

You need to at least understand that as Toronto Blue Jays fans we have only ever seen the absolute worst of Mitch White. And a sample size of suck that borders on meaningless.

The trade looks horrible right now but there is still a chance that White is who Toronto thought he was (a viable MLB SP of some caliber) and Frasso is less than that.

I guess the outside information that makes people less confident is that this FO does not really have a good track record at identifying and acquiring pitchers like this. Trent Thornton didn't stick, Anthony Kay couldn't figure it out, Thomas Hatch hasn't been able to figure it out... Bowden Francis still has a chance but he was horrendous in AAA last year...

Ross Stripling is kind of the only success story when it comes to bringing in a depth SP. And he even sucked for Toronto at first and the credit for Ross Stripling being good for Toronto probably should go to Ross Stripling more than anybody.

Thus far the team has had a pretty good track record in moving MiLB talent and not have them come back to bite them. Moreno is the most likely right now to be one that'll sting moving away, but they got a guy in whom they believe to be a very solid contributor for a number of years in Varsho. Who have we even moved of note recently that we would love to have at the MLB level? Winckowski, who isn't even with the org they traded him to and is peaking as a reliever who throws semi hard and doesn't K anyone? Bryan Baker had like a 3 mph uptick on his fastball velo and has been good for the Orioles, that one sucks, but relievers just do that kind of s*** sometimes.

The two highest profile guys they moved aside from Moreno were Austin Martin, who blows, and SWR who averages 91 on his fastball out of the bullpen and whose command hasn't been what it was as an advanced 18 year old in A+.

I think we might be identifying the right guys but there is some disconnect in development. Either not the right guys for our dev team or our dev team isn’t great.

Three of those guys came from orgs that have a strong reputation for pitching dev. I think taking someone out of an elite environment into a lesser one can have an impact.

I think they have stuff numbers for some AAA leagues but apparently SWR numbers are pretty good. ThereÂ’s a decent chance heÂ’s a starting pitcher as soon as this year in the bigs.

Sadly if he was still here he would realistically be one of the best call up options lol.

Right now our starting depth is Mitch White who is rehabbing, Drew Hutchison, and Casey Lawrence.

Bowden Francis looks like he could have been an option but hes hurt. Yosver Zulueta can't throw strikes. Zach Thompson is a dumpster fire.

Semi Robberse and Adam Kloffenstein are both further out. Don't think they are realistic options for this season.

He's now made 11 starts at Double-A has been pretty good. Will probably see him finish this season at Buffalo. Might not be out of the realm of possibility he could make a spot start in Toronto if needed in the right matchup.

Zach Britton leading the Jays minor league system with a 177 wRC+

Excellent batting line:

.324 .489 .471 .959

Probably see him reach AAA in another month or two if he keeps that up.

Is King Kloff turning a corner?

25 IP

10.80 K/9

3.6 BB/9

2.52 ERA

2.6 FIP

2.69 xFIP

Decent numbers for a 22yo in AA

He was complete dogshit last season.

Early signs are good. Sometimes guys just put it together later. But like you said he’s still only 22.

Any velo numbers? He was low 90s last year I think on top of the command issues.

Anybody got any velo/stuff reports on Chad Dallas? He’s had a really hot start to the season in High-A. 2.18 ERA and 13.5 K/9 through 4 starts.

Leading the Northwest league in K's in fact. His slider has a current 60, future 70 grade from FG and you can see why.

I think Orelvis is pretty much a bust now. If an entire off-season working in the complex with our player devs can't help him make better swing decisions and consistent contact, I doubt it ever clicks.

Looks like CJ Van Eyk (2020 2nd round pick) made his return today after Tommy John surgery

If any of you haven't listened to the Vancouver Canadians games on Sportsnet 650, the announcer Rob Fai is really good. I enjoy listening to his play by play.
