Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 18, 2023 Posted April 18, 2023 It's so weird too , his statcast page is about as unreal as it gets for someone you;d think should be getting much better results. Whiff rate is top of the charts, and avoids barrels well so even even when his pitches get hit, the EV sucks. He's simply on or not... he needs a short leash.

I genuinely believe Richards will be an impact reliever in this league. Might just not be here. I hope its here.
spats Verified Member Posted April 19, 2023 Posted April 19, 2023 I was at the Phillies practice facility in Clearwater today to watch the Jays extended spring game hoping to catch a glimpse of Barriera, Bonilla or by chance Bryce Harper who is apparently here on a rehab assignment. Unfortunately, none of them were here. Bonilla is in the Dominican and Harper hasn't arrived yet. The good news is Barriera will be pitching an intra squad game tomorrow in Dunedin. The bad news is that the facility in Dunedin is not as easily accessible as the Philly one but I will try to get in. Notables at todays game were Hagen Danner on assignment pitched a clean 1st inning, Luis Mesa, big 2021 international signing caught and had a couple hits along with showing off his great arm. Also there was Robinson Cano's younger brother who played 3 rd for a couple innings before injuring his wrist on a swing and miss. Remarkable resemblance to his older brother.

Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2023 Author Posted April 19, 2023 My god Orelvis has had a horrendous start to this season.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2023 Posted April 19, 2023 My god Orelvis has had a horrendous start to this season. A lot of jays prospects have to be honest. Most are very SSS, but slow starts suck.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2023 Posted April 19, 2023 Damiano Palmegiani with one of the more unique slashlines you'll see. .286/.500/.286

Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2023 Posted April 19, 2023 He's simply on or not... he needs a short leash. Feels like we have a couple guys like that in the BP right now. Mainly Richards and Mayza… and Romano to a lesser extent. (Think that Angels game when he loses his control) Richards and Mayza should never be brought in with runners on base IMO. If they have an “off day” you’re stuck with them for 3 batters. Feels like the front office still hasn’t figured this out, or maybe its John’s call. Would like to bring Pearson in and see if he can be the firefighter to get swing and miss when we need it.

Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2023 Posted April 20, 2023 Big Nate another clean inning with a K.
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2023 Posted April 20, 2023 Far too small of a sample and too old for the level to get excited about, but a notable early power uptick from our 15th round pick in 2022. https://www.fangraphs.com/players/michael-turconi/sa3020195/stats?position=SS
RustyTrombone Verified Member Posted April 20, 2023 Posted April 20, 2023 Macko made his debut earlier today. 4IP, 4H, 2ER, 7K, 1BB. K numbers have been eye popping for him for sure when he's actually been on the mound.

K numbers have been eye popping for him for sure when he's actually been on the mound. I've always thought it was the walks with him. 1 in 4 innings is a good start. If he finds his command and keeps the BB/9 down around or below 3 than he'll take the next step.
Ray Verified Member Posted April 21, 2023 Posted April 21, 2023 0-4 with 2 K's for Orelvis today. Brings his season slashine through 11 games to a blistering cold .073/.152/.220, .372 OPS.

spats Verified Member Posted April 21, 2023 Posted April 21, 2023 Unfortunately I was not allowed into the Jays complex yesterday to watch Barriera. Ever since the renos there has been no access to any part of the complex, whereas before you could just walk in and basically mingle with the coaches and players. The "prison guard" said that they would be making a decision early next week on whether to allow spectators at the extended spring games.Meanwhile,I'll try to catch a couple games next week at the Phillies complex where they are happy to have fans at the games.

This is unacceptable. As the BJMB head scout it's an abomination they kept you out. We need to make you up an official lanyard or something. I'll call Tinnish - see what I can do!

THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted April 23, 2023 Posted April 23, 2023 How is every single hitting prospect we have coming out the gate cold and looking awful with whiffs? Does our performance centre only work for pitchers?

BlueBaller Verified Member Posted April 23, 2023 Posted April 23, 2023 The hitting has been comically bad in the minors so far.
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted April 23, 2023 Posted April 23, 2023 Does it work for pitchers?? Manoah and Romano are the only guys we’ve developed in the past 5 years Well whatever they're doing Tiedemann has worked, there's good stuff about Barriera, and Robberse.
spats Verified Member Posted April 23, 2023 Posted April 23, 2023 Tiedemann is the only prospect who is having a decent start this year. I keep checking the affiliates box scores to see if anyone is starting to pitch or hit and so far nada.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted April 23, 2023 Posted April 23, 2023 Following the Jays system so far this season is extremely depressing. You're basically just waiting for Ricky T and Robberse to pitch lol
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted April 23, 2023 Posted April 23, 2023 Daniel Espino shut down. Might be cooked.
Josh Kasevich Buffalo Bisons - AAA SS Kasevich tallied 3 hits on Thursday including his 17th double. He's now hitting .303 on the season. Explore Josh Kasevich News >
