Hey, Hey everybody!

 

On my 8th beer lol! First game was a very good one and the Fisher Cats came out on top 4-0. Martinez was 0-2 and drew a walk but had some good appearances and made the pitcher battle. Liked what I saw from the 1B Horwitz, could be interesting to see how he progresses. The pitcher Schultz showed some good stuff also. Great atmosphere and makes me realize how much I missed it!

Jays fans can breath a sigh of relief. A rainout yesterday lead us to realize he can pitch on Saturdays as well

Santos is turning heads at Single-A (June 3)

Dahian Santos stands atop the strikeout mountain for the Florida State League.

 

Toronto's No. 28 prospect has been masterful in his second professional season.

 

The 19-year-old continued his impressive start in Dunedin's 5-4 loss to Clearwater.

 

The right-hander hurled four scoreless innings while giving up just one hit and two walks, fanning seven in the process. This performance marked his fifth scoreless outing of the season, only having one game where he struck out less than five batters and four games through nine appearances where he's given up a run.

 

Santos' league-leading 65 strikeouts have been over 33 2/3 innings pitched while sporting a 1.34 ERA, and he entered the game against the Threshers having 58% of his at-bats ending in a strikeout. -- Ethan Sands

 

Santos, Martinez sweep Florida State League honours (June 3)

The Single-A Dunedin Blue Jays have produced some incredible individual performances this season, which continued on June 3, when right-hander Dahian Santos and outfielder Gabriel Martinez were named Florida State League Pitcher and Player of the Month for May.

 

Santos, ranked the club’s No. 28 prospect by MLB Pipeline, has been one of the most productive players in the entire organization this season. The 19-year-old owns a 1.52 ERA with a whopping 58 strikeouts over 29 2/3 innings. Dunedin has been a pitching factory this season, including April’s winner, Ricky Tiedemann, who’s since earned a promotion to High-A Vancouver and a spot on MLB Pipeline’s overall list at No. 100.

 

Martinez, who is making a serious push for the Blue Jays’ Top 30 list, looks like an early candidate for the organization’s breakout prospect of 2022. The 19-year-old Venezuelan is hitting .297 with nine home runs and an .883 OPS for the Dunedin Blue Jays, including a .367 average in May with 36 hits in 25 games. Toronto has been starved for outfield talent in its prospect pipeline, so Martinez’s surge is very welcome news. -- Keegan Matheson

Dude must have nasty stuff. It’s going to be very interesting to see how promotions happen this year as we go forward. Santos at least probably needs to be up a level.

So let me get this straight. Atkins DFA'd Borucki only to replace him with Thorton. Now we got Beasley and Hernandez is still sitting in Buffalo.

Thornton is not my favorite, but he's actually been passable this season with a 0.2 fWAR so far. An upgrade Borucki

 

Beasley has pitched well for the Bisons so far, no problem with them giving him another look now that he's improved his BB/9

 

Hernandez...I can't wait to see him added to the 40 man and then promoted, it's only a matter of time, but I can't fault the Jays for waiting a bit longer in order to take a peak at Beasley.

 

Of course, Beasley is not doing himself any favors so far.

40 man stuff is often not just about who’s better right now, it’s about options and how expendable you are too.

Worth noting that Juenger pitched just 1 inning in relief after pitching multiple innings in every other outing this year, all but 1 as a starter. Was thought to be a pen option when drafted. Wonder if they're going back to that with a thought that he might impact the Jays pen this season.

Plate discipline can be taught, it's a matter if he adjusts. He could be a tweak away from something, good.

I can see good and bad. Second time through the level isn’t great. Power jump after the last prospect list I saw him on said he had 40 hit and 40 power. He’s doing better than that. Apparently he also has a plus plus arm so I’m guessing at the very least he can play third. Maybe he can cut down the k rate.

Santos is the type of guy who could really blow up with a ln offseason at the PC working on increasing velocity on the 4FB. He seems to have great command and a nasty SL. If he can get up to the mid-90s instead of low-90s, he could be something amazing.

For sure. Given that he's only 19, I'd expect an uptick in velocity is going to happen at some point.

Yea, I’ve heard hype now on Tiedemann (from basically everyone) and Zuelueta, Santos and Frasso from various places. It’s a pretty exciting time for blue jays pitching.

 

I think there’s a small chance that Zueleta pulls a manoah and makes the majors before he gets a ton of hype.

 

This will be the first deadline in a while where I’m going to be possibly pissed at us losing a pitcher at the lower levels.

Really sucks that Beltre's little brother likely won't be eligible to sign before an international draft is put in place.

 

Manuel is one of my favorite Jays prospects and it would have been awesome to get his kid brother too.

Didn't some prospect "expert" recently take a rather large dump on Beltre? Pretty much wrote him off as a waste of space.

 

I thought I remember reading that somewhere.

 

Not that I agree with it, I was just surprised because of how highly touted he was when they signed him.

I think he got left off some lists or ranked poorly.

 

He was a big name long before he signed but even at the time of signing lots were pointing out that he's not necessarily a high ceiling guy. Tools might be lacking.

I left Florida highly skeptical of shortstop Manuel Beltre, who signed with Toronto for $2.35 million in 2021. Lauded for his drive and grit, there isn’t much in the way of tools here.

I see he is having a good season, just turned 23 and is 280 lbs. That is all i know.

Just because it was discussed in some manner earlier. I took the hitters in BA's top 100 (53 total not including top 7 overall in the rankings) and looked at their age, level, and wRC+ through May. Orelvis would ranked about 18th when factoring in age and level with wRC+ (30th on wRC+ alone). I think what I found was when you look at his numbers compared to other top 100 prospects, he has still been above average in production, despite the lower OBP, AVG, etc.
