Austin Martin 2nd homerun of the season.

Opposite field too...

Nice to see Martin coming around. Pretty impressive considering how long it had been between real games. (I guess it was just as long for the pitchers but whatever)

I had zero idea that Kevin Smith was doing as well as he is in AAA.

.253/.355/.527, .883 OPS whilst actually maintaining a decent 25% K%. He was younger for the draft class too, so still only 24. Could end up being a good depth piece.

Yeah early in thw season it looked like Warmoth might be the pleasant surprise prospect at AAA, but he's gone ice cold and Smith has been pouring it on.

Riley Adam's with a 1.010 OPS now. He's hit at every level now up to AAA.

Those all seem pretty appropriate IMO. Except Kirk. Guy posts a 122 wRC+ at the major league level with great BB% and K% and drops? Seems odd, but I guess because of injuries and others rising.

Fatty has hip flexor issues already. Not a good sign.

To be honest kind of surprised Pearson didn't slip more. But everything else seems appropriate, Moreno and Manoah were the only guys having standout seasons. Maybe SWR too to a lesser degree.

First off, holy s*** Gabby Moreno & Manoah. I predicted they'd be Top 50 prospects by end of season, but it's crazy to see them rise drastically so quickly. Meteoric. Baseball-America don't just rank on their own evaluations either. They take industry consensus amongst executives and scouts in the league, so safe to say the league views both highly at this point too.

Second, 5 Top 100 position player prospects (even though Kirk will graduate soon) is insane for the youngest position player core in the majors that's already having some level of success.

Pearson hasn't looked good at all (and I'm not arguing he shouldn't drop) but it's kind of funny. Dude changed up his entire mechanics, had 1 terrible MLB start when he really shouldn't have been called up in the first place, and all of a sudden he's terrible. If he didn't have that one start and had the exact same performance in AAA, we'd be saying he's just figuring out his mechanics and wouldn't necessarily overreact as much.

Kind of funny how the Manoah>Pearson thread was on its way to being a meme when it was first created but now Manoah leapfrogged him by a spot

Kelenic with a cool -0.8 WAR in about 20 games. Obviously he's going to be fine, probably, but I hope this quiets all the people foaming at the mouth for 21 year olds to be called up after a cup of coffee at AA.

but sErViCe TiMe MaNiPuLaTiOn is the only explanation!!!!

And Bobby Witt has been just OK in AA after Twitter collectively threw a fit over service time manipulation when he was sent down after ST.

I agree with you. Manoah and Pearson should be in the SP rotation as soon as the service time clock thing is passed (for Manoah). I keep getting into it with Mike Wilner on Twitter re: this. I say play the kids, Monoah, Austin and Groshans now. Especially if the guys on the roster suck. I would rather the kids suck and earn valuable experience than having a s***** vet who has a low ceiling.

You guys are just wrong. This guy right here he knows how to develop prospects Monoah, Martin, Groshans and Pearson should be up here every day playing.

f*** it dooooooooood

Service time manipulation is obviously a thing that exists, but I agree people take it overboard some times. The Jays got lucky with Kirk coming up from A+ and hitting right away (even Manfred's baseballs can't stop the Cap'n). Most of the time prospects, especially hitting prospects, need reps against upper minors competition.

did that imply we're rebuilding?

I took it as we're not a finished product yet...getting close to legit contender, but not quite there.

Former top draft prospect Riley Pint (went #4 overall to the Rockies in 2016) announced his retirement today at age 23. Surprised he decided to hang it up so young, but he just really never showed the consistent ability to throw strikes.

That top of the 2016 draft class is...not great.
