Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2019 Posted August 8, 2019 Actually seems like Pardinho slowed his arm down there On those angles, it looks like a slider....it has cut action, not fade, which is pretty unusual for a change up.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2019 Posted August 8, 2019 In the Bison's stadium (err, maybe that's not in Buffalo)....is there glass or is it a netting behind home plate? I've never really seen a stadium without any wall behind the plate. Very odd.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2019 Posted August 8, 2019 It's not hard to see what the Jays like in SWR.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2019 Posted August 9, 2019 T.J Zeuch spinning a no hitter through 4 innings in Buffalo on only 47 pitches (9 GO, 0 FO), with 2 BB and 1 K sprinkled in. Edit.. But of course the first batter in the fifth singles.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2019 Posted August 9, 2019 I'm not impressed on how the Bisons handled Zeuch's start tonight. He pitches 7 shut out innings on 86 pitches, great start. Most would think he's done for the night and leave on a building block type start, he's thrown 86 pitches anyway. Nope, he comes back out for the eighth and has a tough luck inning. He's eventually taken out with one out and the bases loaded after giving up a run. Saucedo called in and strikes out the first batter but then gives up a salami. Three of those runs belong to Zeuch. So going from 7 shutout innings to giving up 4 ER in 7.1 innings.

Also don't look now but: Manoah 3IP, 0H, 0R, 0BB, 7K, 53P

glory Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2019 Posted August 9, 2019 Pearson, Manoah, SWR, Pardinho..........damn. Can't wait for wave 2 of the prospect injection at the big league level.

Just because he ultimately gave up 4 earned runs doesn’t mean they are going to dismiss his great outing up to that point.

I'm pretty excited to see what Joey Murray can do. everywhere he goes he racks up the k's with that invisi-ball. I think it's going to continue.

BlueBaller Verified Member Posted August 9, 2019 Posted August 9, 2019 Drew Hutchison clonepossibly. I've only seen a couple clips of Murray but his delivery looked a lot more deceptive.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2019 Author Posted August 9, 2019 Mass = Gas Except with Brett Cecil.
Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2019 Posted August 9, 2019 Except with Brett Cecil. This made me look up Cecil's stats for this year. Oof.

devo Verified Member Posted August 9, 2019 Posted August 9, 2019 I wonder will Manoah touch any top 100 lists this offseason? Would be very very surprising if he wasn't top 100 by end of the season.
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2019 Posted August 9, 2019 Would be very very surprising if he wasn't top 100 by end of the season. I think he’ll make the lists as soon as scouts see him effective in high-A. The stuff seems better than advertised. Alek could be dominant in the AFL and make the pre-season list as well. He’s already top 100 material imo
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2019 Posted August 9, 2019 https://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=sa3010692&position=3B/SS Orelvis Martinez is looking very good in his 100+ ABs so far in the GCL as a 17 year old. He'd probably be a guy worth monitoring even if he was 19. I'm impressed.
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2019 Posted August 9, 2019 17 yr old, first taste of pro ball putting up 124 wRC+ Is a good sign. His strikeout rate also dropped from 20-25% earlier last month to 16%. He also has more triples than HR and doubles

BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2019 Posted August 9, 2019 Our 15th round, over-slot signing Michael Dominguez has been absurd in rookie ball. 18 years old, 1.50 ERA, 2.46 FIP, 13 K/9, 3.5 BB/9 in 7 games. 26 K in 18.0 IP They do these funky 2-3 IP rotations between a bunch of young arms in rookieball, will be interesting to see what happens when he’s given the reigns for 5+ IP
Slade Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2019 Posted August 9, 2019 Quote from Pearson on some mechanical changes he's made from BA Prospect Pad. Nate Pearson, RHP, Blue Jays: “I stopped pitching out of the windup. I just do the stretch now, and I think that’s helped my command of all my pitches. I’m still trying to get my slider a lot better, but my changeup and curveball are coming come along well. They just continue to progress, and I couldn’t be more happy with it.”
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted August 10, 2019 Posted August 10, 2019 Jordan Groshans has been shut down for the remainder of the season. Well, that sucks.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted August 10, 2019 Author Posted August 10, 2019 Is it an excessively long period that Groshans has been out with this foot injury or is it just me?
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 10, 2019 Posted August 10, 2019 Is it an excessively long period that Groshans has been out with this foot injury or is it just me? I think they got the original diagnosis wrong, and he came back and played on said broken/strain foot twice, dummies.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted August 10, 2019 Author Posted August 10, 2019 I think they got the original diagnosis wrong, and he came back and played on said broken foot, dummies. Guess they didn't confer with Adam Lind's mom.
