The casuals the casuals the casuals. That’s all I hear on here. The average fan might not be into hard core baseball analytics but they aren’t dense

I take it you've never read the comments on a Sportsnet article.

They were talking about biggio on mlb radio. Bowden said there’s no reason for him not to be up. He also said shatkins doesn’t seem to rate him near as highly as Bowden does. I hope shatkins don’t end up trading biggio.

I kinda doubt this because (a) Atkins always goes out of his way to mention Biggio when talking about the prospects he's excited about in interviews, and (B) Bowden is also a gigantic idiot.

lol... Bowden doesn't understand financial decisions, no kidding, what an idiot. He pulled that out of his ass.

Agreed, my casual friends have no clue who he is, if they don't call him up anytime soon, might as well wait till mid-July when he passes the Super 2 window. Bichette will be the 3rd week of April next year.

That would be a terrible message for the organization to send. If you have a kid he is killing it and deserves to be up and you manipulate things to save a couple million dollars you're not going to endear yourself to the agents. Especially when Biggio is 24 years old. Do right by the kid and bring him up. Don't you want to see what you have in the kid? What happens if he comes up and continues to kill it. That might change how you look at the next couple years.

Sure, or save millions to put toward the team. Same s*** to me and you though?

I really don't think there is huge financial consideration for Biggio's moves.

You don't see him as significant. Or worth saving millions on?

We should be ecstatic if Biggio ever even gets to the point where he's making millions in arbitration.

You would think that given the average lifespan of a GM, that service time manipulation would be the least of their concerns focusing instead on fielding the best MLB team possible.

Although, being an idiot GM and ignoring the immense value of manipulation of service time might just be the reason you don't get extended as a GM.

It should be the later. More often than not, an Owner can't be looking for a GM that specialize in short term gain.

Nice - his numbers in A+ have been pretty sexy this year. What's his defense like?

What I know is that he was a shortstop in high school so it's not like he's been catching his whole life. I understand that he has a strong arm but it's inconsistent, as is his general defensive play. But this is a scouting report from a couple of years ago so how's he's actually developed... Not sure.

He's a huge dude (6'4 225 lbs) - let's hope he continues to develop well.

No s***?

Point being, there's no financial consideration with him. He's not the type of prospect you play service time/Super 2 games with.

The real reason he's being kept down right now is probably to get everyday playing time and also get reps in on multiple positions. He's only played the OF in 1 game so far.

He caught 45% of baserunners stealing last season. Seems to have a great arm.

Can't tell you about anything else.

45%... that would indeed suggest a good arm, unless the entire league was full of slow base stealers.

I wouldn’t put Riley Adams in the Danny Jansen category just yet, but this is a pleasant surprise. Cullen Large shouldn’t be too far behind the promotion list—they’ve both been raking in Dunedin. And Pearson is due for some better competition.

I’ve only heard good things about Adams behind the plate, so we’ll get to see it in AA. There isn’t terrific catching talent in NH so it’s a clear upgrade. I’m not too sure about Alberto Mineo yet, he’s put up decent numbers since he came over from the cubs, but that strikeout rate is Alford-esque. It’s been a bit hard to watch the Fisher Cats this year as their offense has been slow to start.

Hope we see Large's K% continue to drop into the low 20's or high teens - but yeah - I'm starting to get excited about him as well.

So Alejandro Kirk has been promoted to Dunedin, according to the Dunedin Blue Jays Twitter account.

That was a very quick promotion for him, but he's been pretty dominant. How he hits in the FSL will be a real challenge.

Adams to AA, Kirk to A+.

I guess that frees up catching duty for Hagen Danner & Ryan Gold.

Maybe even Gabriel Moreno down the road, if he could replicate those GCL numbers up in Appy or Vancouver this year.

Catching depth suddenly looks good top to bottom
