glory Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2018 Posted September 2, 2018 That's a pretty awful slash line. Wall is striking out a ton and has a high babip so yeah the line isn’t that impressive, but he’s hitting fewer GB and walking more since the trade. He will be 23 next year so AA is still an appropriate level. Next year will be big for him.

SaskJaysFan_2 Verified Member Posted September 2, 2018 Posted September 2, 2018 A lot of you have mentioned John Schneider as a potential manager for the Blue Jays going forward. Now he is manager of the year. And Atkins just talked about the players in the minors winning together and coming up together, like that have this season the last little bit. Would he be a decent fit as Blue Jays manager? Knows the players, system, seems to be in Atkins's good books, etc.

P2F Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2018 Posted September 4, 2018 (edited) Not a bad first start. 5ip, 9 K, 3 BB, 3 hits, 1 HR. 91 pitches, 56 strikes. 4 seamer averaged 98mph, maxed at 101.6 James would go on to punch out Simmons - a rare strikeout for the latter. Here he is missing high at 101.6 MPH, his hardest thrown pitch of the game. Edited September 4, 2018 by P2F

Todd Verified Member Posted September 4, 2018 Posted September 4, 2018 Man I'm glad Anthony Alford did not get called up. He has done nothing to be called up to the show. And in mine and as it looks now other people he should not even be in the top 50 prospects anymore. He has alot of work to do even to get back in as any type of prospect. And the jays prospect pool as gotten alot deeper.

Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2018 Author Posted September 4, 2018 jesus christ I'm the first but bust todd's chops about the whole Alford thing, but aside from saying 'not top 50 worthy', he's not wrong. Alford has done nothing to earn a promotion...he's been surpassed by many...and needs to prove himself again if he's going to get on a lot of people's radar again...and yes, the Jays system has gotten much deeper. 2019 is a critical season for Alford.

Not what this "earning a promotion" thing is. September call ups aren't for guys that standout in the minors, they're basically added depth guys that make little to no difference to anything except to make games way the f*** longer while every team cycles through 8 relievers every game. Sure, you can find teams that do bring up some guys that have had unexpectedly good years (like Houston with Josh James), but let's not pretend he would be up with the team right now unless they were allowed to have 40 guys instead of 25. To me, earning a promotion means you get added to the 25 man roster when you're ready (or after you're obviously ready because of service time manipulation), not the amazingly stupid 40 man roster in September. Besides, this is actually the 1st season he hasn't hit well in the minors, given his injuries and early career football fling

Bleacher Report (I know...just...whatever) has them #3 John sickles has them #6 Not sure about BA because evrything is paywalled now Just listening to that segment though, it's pretty clear that Law just wants to be controversial in the market, Lansberg and the other clown were great at sucking his dick because it was "definitive" (lol). Seems like evryone on radio these days just wants to stir s*** up rater than have honest discourse. Where was the other side of the argument from someone who does believe the jays are top 10 or top 5? What's Law's support for his position that the system has nothing past their top 3 guys? He never provides the why on any opining, just states his opinions as if they are facts and gets verbally fellated by the hosts for it. Could this tool not be any more of a clown? Is our system, not, objectively top 4-5? It's hilarious, Keith's personal view of Fernando Tatis's and Bo Bichette's defense moves Vlad and Bo, from a 1-5ish combo, to a 2-20ish combo Law's exact words (with very mild Olerud363 style exaggeration, meaning OK. It's exaggerated a tad, but not as much as you would think.) Keith Law - "I am Keith Law. And I have to this say. Vlad Guerrero is not a number prospect despite historical hitting stats. You see he is a fat man that cannot play third base. Fernando Tatis in the number one prospect. He is an expert short stop. A great short stop. A defensive whiz, such a defensive whiz that his 109 strikeouts in 80 games don't matter. They do not matter. Fernando Tatis Jr. strikes out at a rate of 200 per 160 games. Vladimir Guerrero strikes out at a rate of 50 per 160 games. However Vald Guerrero is a fat man and Fernando Tatis is an ace short stop. An ace I say. And I have to this say. Bo Bichette cannot play short stop. He cannot. He just cannot. Fernando Tatis is an ace short stop. Bo Bichette is not a short stop. He is not. I saw him play three times. Thus Toronto does not have a) the number one prospect overall a second top 10 prospect They have a 2 guy, maybe 3, and a 20. Bo Bichette cannot play short stop. Fernado Tatis jr. can. Thank you. Keith Law, expert short stop defense evaluator.

I'm pretty sure Vladdy doesn't fit that player type (in fact he may have him outside the top 50). Since people are more divided over Bichette and Biggio's future, I can see Law legitimately thinking that. He's an idiot, but I'm not sure it's just to be controversial.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted September 5, 2018 Posted September 5, 2018 It doesn't bother me that Law called the farm not top ten. It's not something you can ever prove right or wrong. But the ******** he says about how to run a front office knowing that he'll never be in one again and knowing the real reason things are getting done (and that he in the same situation would do them exactly the same way). "It's just money" "these Front offices are just lying". A GM's job is to work efficiently for the ownership...and with the lawsuits that are going on, you cannot say "we are just keeping this player down to manipulate service time". Take your fight to the PA and the next CBA if you feel so strongly. Not at the F.O's who are doing their job proper. The little grunts, groans and giggles responses from the radio announcers were the most annoying thing in the whole clip.
