Too many K's....

What's better? 11 K's and 4 BB's over 6 or what Borucki did the other night 2 K's and 0BB's over 6.

Two different leagues.:P What James did statistically, he only gave up 2 hits and zero runs, also his numbers are far better than Borucki ever put up. Not to mention less balls in play.

Not sure you can compare when you don't include how many hits Borucki gave up.

For me, the outcomes you want from your pitcher are missing bats, not walking hitters, and giving up weak contact, preferrably on the ground - in that order.

I'm taking strictly stat like...I know they're different leagues. Are you ok with a higher walk total but lots of K's or less K's but no free passes.

Is what Biggio's doing in the minors pretty uncommon for a 23 year old? (23 home runs)

He's having a very nice season. The K's are a little high for me, but those walks and power numbers are jizz worthy.

Excellent. Where would you rank him compared to our other prospects?

Not sure he cracks my top 10 yet but somewhere in that 11-15. He's gone from a organizational guy for me, to someone I see having a legit future. I want to see him do it for one more year before I get too excited. Kinda like Jansen last season (he had had a great followup season) or Pompey's meteoric rise a few years back, that he was never able to duplicate.

Kind of Ryan Schmipf'esk, but doing it early enough into his tenure that you have time before you have to add him to the 40 man.

Good comp imo, but Biggio putting up these numbers is his first chance at AA and he was a bit younger. Best case scenario is like a platoonable dan uggla?

Isn't the defense as big of a question mark for Biggio as the K's? As in, he might not be a viable 2B or 3B.

LF?

LF?

Even as a left fielder he'd have to play good defense to be valuable... If he ends up being a .240 .330 .440 guy he'll need a bit of defense to go with that.

I thought the knock on his defense was his "defensive profile" based on his poor athleticism. The fear was his "future defense". His effort is supposedly strong and his decision making is very strong. That can make up for a lot. He's been taking reps at 1B this year though and that looks like it would be his future position if 2B doesn't work out.

He can play 2B adequately but if the power is real he can literally fit anywhere. Maybe take on a role like Zobrist all over the diamond.

I've never seen him play of course. I was just half-remembering scouting reports.

Ben Zobrist was an excellent defender at several positions, we don't know if Biggio is even capable of handling 2nd adequately.

Biggio = Paul DeJong?

Steve Pearce - bat first utility guy who will give you solid D at 1B and below average 2B and LF (assuming he can play LF)

I think my Biggio comp, based solely on profile, would probably be... Chris Coghlan?

High walks and high strikeouts with some power from the left side reminds me a lot of Kelly Johnson.

He is fine at second and first. You really don’t want him at short or third, I’ve see some terrible throws and misplays at third.
