From BA stock watch.

Anthony Alford, OF, Blue Jays

Rank: Not ranked. Preseason: 60.

Alford’s baseball career got off to a slow start because he was playing college football. He quickly made up for lost time after focusing on baseball, but since then injuries have dramatically slowed his development.

Alford has suffered from a concussion, a knee injury, a broken wrist and a hamstring injury over the past three seasons. While he still has impressive tools, he has struggled at the plate this season, and some scouts now see him more as a future fourth outfielder rather than a regular.

Tayler Saucedo had a decent AA debut. The defense really failed him in the second inning and things got off the rails with the grand slam, but he’s a lefty with strikeout ability and several pitches to work with. Aside from the one rough inning he wasn’t half bad.

My god that's a lot of calories.

does seem high. This is far from my expertise but my assignment during Sport Performance class I had to do optimal training for a soccer player and it was 4,200 calories and they run like 10k every game.

Interesting story on the Dodgers taking the initiative to actually feed their minor league players. 6000 calorie per day, fully loaded meals

About damn time! It’s honestly mind boggling that this could be considered pioneering in the MLB.

The return teams would receive on feeding these kids is astronomical. Reduced injuries, improved performance, better players. You could easily feed every single one of your minor leaguers 3 proper meals a day for less than teams sign Joe Smith to pitch for them.

does seem high. This is far from my expertise but my assignment during Sport Performance class I had to do optimal training for a soccer player and it was 4,200 calories and they run like 10k every game.

6000 is a lot especially for a baseball player you’re right. They might budget 6000/kid a day but it’s unlikely many of them eat that much. Especially if they aren’t serving breakfast

As per Mike Wilner Vlad is doing agility and running drills and will be re-evaluated next week.

Futures Game USA Capsules.

Peter Alonso, 1B, Mets (Triple-A Buffalo)

Age: 23. HT: 6-3. WT: 245. B-T: R-R.

Source: Florida.

How Acquired: Selected by Mets in second round of 2016 draft.

Background: Alonso parlayed a 14-homer season as a Florida junior into a second-round selection by the Mets.

What To Watch For: Alonso delivers premium exit velocities, and he accesses his big-time power because of a strong command of the strike zone.

Had no idea Alonso was playing in Buffalo, need to get over there.

Uh oh.. You typed the magical word "re-evaluated"; better pull out our umbrellas, a wet blanket will be dropping from the sky any time now.

Olerud triggered.

This is kind of ironic. You guys are the ones who've triggered simply by me suggesting that Vlad might be out for a while.

Original return date - July 7th (misses four and half weeks)

delay one - hadn't run yet -

delay two - doing agility drills will be "re-evaluated" in one week

So now his most optimistic return date is July 18th or so, misses his all star game and his futures games. He will have missed six weeks. And that is if everything goes perfect...

It's insidious isn't it?? As the end of July approaches and he still isn't back, and he's doing agility drills with Tulo then some of the rest you will start freaking out.

No Canadians selected for the Futures Game. That's pretty disappointing.

I don't recall anyone here saying they expected him back on the 7th, just that expecting longer. .. cuz reasons. .. didn't really make much sense either. You've blown this injury so far out if proportion it's astounding.

He's 19, hurt a tendon in his knee and appears to be ahead of whatever initial schedule the Jays had set for him, if all reports so far can be believed. None of this is bad news. It doesn't derail his career and doesn't mean he can't hit the same ceiling he could have hit before.

The only person overreacting here is you.

Honestly I dont think anyone is ever that triggered by the actual baseball content you post, it's more so that your posts are dressed up like f***in Dr. Suess stories and flooded with hyperbole

SRF is starting again tonight. Looking forward to seeing another high K performance.

Final line: 6IP 6H 3ER 1BB 8K

I can’t believe he’s still only 22. Feels like he’s much older than that. Probably a case of prospect fatigue.

That's a pretty good line, I'm very okay with that.

Foley looks really good. Can't wait to see him up here once Happ is traded.
