L54 Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2018 Posted May 7, 2018 Why is everyone an expert on Vlad's conditioning? You guys don't think that Vlad is getting the most attention a Blue Jays prospect ever has? He doesn't have to look like Stanton to be successful, just as looking like Stanton doesn't equate to anything.
jaysguy44 Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2018 Posted May 7, 2018 He has to want to get into shape. If he doesn't want to, he won't. I've never understood this. If I was a phenomenal athlete, I would do my best to get into the best shape possible. You would think you'd want to be as great as you can be.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2018 Posted May 7, 2018 Vladdy going deep oppo off a tee lmao Wow... that is extremely difficult, lol.

You would think you'd want to be as great as you can be. He's already the best prospect in baseball without the elite athlete body type. What real motivation would he have to change if his current ways have not yet failed him? I get the hypothetical... but realistically baseball doesn't have the same athleticism required as other sports for athlete's to be successful given the nature of the game.

The GOAT of baseball is a fatty. Hopefully he doesn't flame out like prince though.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2018 Posted May 7, 2018 Kirby Puckett was great in all aspects of game. Svelte too.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2018 Posted May 7, 2018 I wouldn't really mind if Vlad was a bit thicker if he stayed on top of it and made some progress over time. I will say however that he appears to have gotten fatter over time, which probably isn't the trajectory we want him on. It's easy to not care right now because he's young and murdering baseballs, but it isn't a good thing.
jaysguy44 Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2018 Posted May 7, 2018 All you're doing is leaving baserunning and possibly defensive WAR on the table by not being in the best shape possible. There's zero advantage to being out of shape. My thoughts exactly. But idk, if you keeps putting up those numbers he can continue eating as many twinkles as he wants
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2018 Posted May 7, 2018 Kirby Puckett was great in all aspects of game. Svelte too. And also had a stroke at 45.

There's zero advantage to being out of shape. Zero advantage? He gets to eat ice cream and cookies without having to worry. That's very much an advantage to some people. Some of you are acting like you're Vladdy. The truth is he's the top prospect doing what he's doing now. What incentive does he have to change?
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2018 Posted May 7, 2018 Nate Pearson just took a hot shot off his pitching elbow. Not sure of the exit velo but it was scorched. In visible pain, unable to extend his arm. Is coming out of the game. Stay tuned

If he was in better shape you would think that would be an improvement there.
jaysguy44 Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2018 Posted May 7, 2018 Is Bo number 5? The one who celebrates with Vlad by the dugout
