P2F Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2017 Posted July 21, 2017 I think the Rays are getting ready to promote Willy Adames to the majors any day now. They've had him play 2B the last couple of days, and that's probably more to do with the fact that Brad Miller suxxxxxxxx, and less to do with the thought that Adames needs to be moved off SS.
Slade Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2017 Posted July 21, 2017 Warmoth actually took 2 walks today, was getting concerned.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2017 Posted July 21, 2017 Also saying that Marcum, McGowan, Romero and Morrow were the future is egregious. McGowan was long dead by the time Morrow was in the picture, and when the latter emerged as a great SP for us Marcum was traded for Lawrie. Marcum, McGowan, Romero, Janssen would be more accurate I think. Janssen and Marcum came up at the same IIRC.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2017 Posted July 21, 2017 f*** this pic just reminds me of Marcum, Mcgowan, Romero and Morrow. THE FUTURE That definetly worked out. Marcum was pretty good, Romero had a few years where he was pretty good (a lot better than anyone thought he'd ever be) and Morrow had some good seasons, one where he led all qualified AL starters in k/9. McGowan, yeah. Poor guy. Didn't really work out poorly at all.

baseballsss Verified Member Posted July 21, 2017 Posted July 21, 2017 "It’s the Fab Four of the starting rotation: Ricky Romero, Shaun Marcum, Brett Cecil and Brandon Morrow. In the wake of Friday’s 6-3 victory over the Twins, the pitching is what keeps the future bright. The top four starters, all under 28-years-old, are all breaking through together and are all healthy and moving forward at approximately the same pace." It was Cecil not Mcgowan sorry. The Fab four hahaha EDIT- the above quote was from an article.

Ray Verified Member Posted July 22, 2017 Posted July 22, 2017 Sean Reid Foley tonight: 6.2 IP 4H 1ER 2BB 12K. Drops his ERA to 4.48 Gurriel and Danny Jansen both 2/3 so far.

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2017 Posted July 22, 2017 Hopefully its the return of SRF. He got off to a horrendous start but he's pretty pedestrian all year. Hopefully this the starts putting it all together. I was expecting a big season from him and just didn't happen unfortunately.
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2017 Posted July 22, 2017 That's the SRF we want to see, here's hoping he puts together a stellar second half.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2017 Posted July 22, 2017 Gurriel's hot AA start is the bit to get excited about.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2017 Posted July 22, 2017 Gurriel's hot AA start is the bit to get excited about. Yeah if he can cover 2b even decently then no more Goins playing everyday when Travis misses 80 games next year. Guirrel turning into a big leaguer asap would be great.
Slade Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2017 Posted July 22, 2017 Gurriel just working off the rust. It's a shame he lost half the season to injury.
Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2017 Posted July 22, 2017 Gurriel's hot AA start is the bit to get excited about. He's played more games at 2B than SS so far - really hoping he's a September call up and is at least next season's Barney / Goins replacement, if not a starter straight away. Still think his injury and missed time make that timeline a bit of a stretch unfortunately.
Ray Verified Member Posted July 22, 2017 Posted July 22, 2017 Logan Warmoth: 3/5 with a triple. Kacy Clemens: 2/5 with a homer.

Yeah I saw someone posted it just before I was about to post it. I just finished watching his start on MILB. It looks like he changed his stance to help with his control. He now moves into the stretch with no runners on, and works insanely quick.

THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2017 Posted July 22, 2017 Unfortunately, his next start, or the one after will probably be a s***** one like the rest of his season. Could happen, but the fact that he made technical changes and found immediate success is a good sign. He looked really nasty. 10 swinging k's as well.

THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2017 Posted July 22, 2017 (edited) Do you know if the changes were recent? He's really puzzling this year. That I don't know for certain. I know the last time I saw him, he had a windup and had trouble controlling it. His control looked great yesterday. I'll try and find his last start and see if I can watch a bit of it to see if had the change then? EDIT: Seems like the stance change happened, at least, 2 starts ago, but he worked much quicker last night. He looked much crisper and his shoulder stayed tight instead of flying open. Ray Verified Member Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 Chris Rowley with another good start in AAA: 7.0IP 5H 1BB 0ER. That's 3 straight quality starts in a row. Drops his ERA to 2.27 for the season. I suspect we'll be seeing him in some capacity in September. Warmoth keeps on hitting in Vancouver: 3/5 with a triple. Might have to catch a Canadians games in person soon.

Ray Verified Member Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 Borucki absolutely incredible in his first AA start against a tough Trenton Thunder offense. There's more reason to get excited for him than Greene or Harris at this point.
Caper Verified Member Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 Max Pentecost having himself a great game.
mikebel111 Verified Member Posted July 24, 2017 Posted July 24, 2017 Pearson making his debut for Vancouver Nice beginning for him. Struck out the side all though first guy reached on a wild pitch and reached 3rd with nobody out. He got out of the inning without the run scoring.
