It is interesting the differences

For example, as we all know, Jose Bautista speaks flawless English

Bautista is kind of a special case though. He came from a wealthy educated family and began English lessons when he was 8. He studied business in the DR before coming over to the USA where he spent 2 years in college. Most kids from the DR drop out of school at like age 14 to play ball. Bautista always valued his education and planned to be a bilingual businessman if baseball didn't work out for him

I didn't know most of that. Thanks :)

Sad but true. We need the draft ASAP

Toronto moved his academy to Boca Chica, 70 Km from my home.

Boca Chica, world's largest swimming pool (ocean extremely calm), plus loads of uninhibited chicas... had a f***ing blast.

Angel Perdomo had 5 innings of 3 hit shutout ball yesterday with 8K’s. Still needs to get his walks under control, but it’s nice to see him doing well after a rocky start to the season. I maintain he probably has a better chance at being a starter than Greene does if he can develop his change a bit more.

Wow. That being said, isn't it a little early to hyping him that much? I mean I know stats wise vs age he's amoung the elite, but still seems crazy to be ranking him this highly at 18 years old.

I think it's one of those things where if you've ever seen him play, or talked to a scout that has seen him play, those typical reservations just get thrown out the window.

The HR derby videos from two days ago are absolutely insane. He was hitting laser beams that less than 1% of professional hitters, at all levels, are capable of.

Also, calling him #1 has a lot to do with some of the other prospects in baseball that have graduated (ex., Bellinger, Benintendi, Swanson) or taken steps back this year (ex., Meadows). Of course you can still very much opine that Robles, Torres, Rosario, Moncada, Mejia, or Senzel are probably better at this moment in time. Rodgers and Jimenez in the top tier. Devers in that tier too. I think Kyle Tucker is top 10. Bo Bichette is the best prospect on the planet.

I guess the argument for calling him #1 so early is plainly that his hit/power combination is unrivaled in minor league baseball. This is a possible Miguel Cabrera. You can't say that about any other player in the minors right now.

Those were sick and nasty. He was hitting the next one before they even disappeared into the night. That swing is a force of nature, there's going to be some crazy power numbers at maturity (which is still about 10 years away).

He's a possible 70/70 guy with outstanding plate discipline already demonstrated. He's worthy of Top prospect consideration.

I think what impresses everyone is the plate discipline. His hand eye coordination is crazy good by reports and combine that with ridiculous raw power and you can see why everyone is so high on him. Even if the HR numbers aren't showing up on the boxscore just yet.

Yeah that's fair. I think I just don't want to get my hopes up too high in case something does happen. Obviously it's pretty damn exciting though.

Just get hyped man. If it's Travis Snider 2.0, at least you'll be numb to it.

whispers: Vlad seems to be objectively better than Snider though...

There have been a few people to say this now. I cant remember who reported it, but also said that several scouts said he'll be number 1 by seasons end. This is so f***ing awesome for this franchise

You can probably tie the fact that AA did NOT get Aroldis Chapman directly to the organization currently having Vladito.

AA said that he saw Chapman before he signed and loved him, but they missed out on him by a few million dollars and he always regretted not just writing the cheque to get the elite talent.

Based on the price tag for Vlad and the moves associated with increasing their international budget to get him, I'm guessing he learned from his own history and simply wrote the cheque to get the dude.

Remember when Shapiro chided AA for leaving the farm bare? Turns out he may have inherited a generational hitter lol.

Should have distributed that money across a basket of international 16 year old! Think of how mediocre Lansing could have been in 2019...

Yep, would have been way better to get one fringy MLB reliever and a bunch of org guys. Diversification is key.
