Interestingly, the West Michigan player in the video (No. 21) is Toronto native Daniel Pinero. He was on Canada's WBC team this spring and got into the final game versus the U.S.

Goes to show that going to UVA can even turn a Canadian into an angry person. I didn't realize that was him, I sat at one of his OBJ's games and talked to some guy in the crowd about how tall he was for a SS. Turns out it was his Dad I was talking to...who I later found out was on the Cuban National team for 10 years.

Bo Bichette, SS, Toronto Blue Jays (Low-A Lansing)

The left side of the Lansing Lugnuts’ infield is very young but deep on talent and major league dna. With Vlad Jr. behind him in the lineup and next to him in the field, Bo Bichette has been tearing up the Midwest League. The 2016 second-round pick has a slim, athletic build that is projectable for future strength and bulk. Bichette has 70 grade raw speed, with an average of 4.08 home to first on the five times that I recorded. In the field he is solid yet unspectacular; his range and hands are average for a shortstop. The arm strength is also average for the position but is accurate. He features a violent swing that starts with a deep load and high leg kick. Raw, pull power is generated by above-average bat speed and a swing that generates mild leverage. Maybe the most impressive aspect of Bichette’s game has been his advanced approach at the plate. There is good command of the strike zone and recognition of offspeed pitches. In my looks, he was not fooled by breaking stuff and stayed balanced, which is rare especially for a player so young. Projectable growth might eventually necessitate a move to second base and make the speed grade tick down a notch. However, the hit and power tools should cause quick advancement through the Jays’ system. —Nathan Graham

Actually it is 18 in Manitoba but that is because we can hold our own.

Pretty sure it's because Manitoba is an insufferable wasteland and the government took pity on the teenagers who have to live there.

No thats just Winnipeg who create such creatures as King.

Also 18 in young Vlad's birth province of Quebec.

And Alberta is 18 also. Growing up near Lloydminster is always fun for kids on the Saskatchewan side, where it's 19.

Bichette HR to right field in AB#1.

Now hitting a ridiculous .377.

How long before he, Vladdy, and even Bradley Jones, get moved up? They need more of a challenge, clearly.

Yeah, it's gotta be soon. Probably waiting for the draft so they don't gut Lansing completely.

When Bichette makes it to the show it will be just in time for Travis to make his transition to third base.

Lots of players go from 2B to 3B?

Travis to third base lol. If he's not at second his next move will be LF and he's played outfield before.

Travis doesn't have the footwork to play second long term. He's a much better reactionary type fielder and his bat plays.

This is also very possible and probable.

Here's a better quality video of the Dragons/Whitecaps brawl with commentary. The Jimenez pitch happens around the 23 second mark right in the focal point of the video. He runs off and hides behind the rest of his team right after doing it too.

I don't know about that. Usually, if someone moves off SS at a really early age, if they have a good arm and bat, they'd be moving to 3B before 2b. The fact that Travis plays 2b now, let alone the fact that he never even played SS in pro ball means they probably knew really early on he doesn't have the arm for either 3B or SS.

What the f*** is wrong with Travis being at 2nd? He's a above average defender there. Keep him at 2nd till he has clear negative value at D.

Well the discussion originated from the idea that Bichette may be a future 2B, so people were just spitballing about what would happen with Travis if/when Bo knocks the door down.

I guess Bo is getting called up next week then.

So much can and will happen by the time Bo makes it to the bigs (assuming he even does). Bo might be the one that moves to 3B for all we know.

IMO, if it were necessary to move travis to accommodate Bo, then Travis would be going to LF.... or just traded.

No one's suggesting it's a decision that will need to be made tomorrow, nothing wrong with trying to speculate on how things may shake down in the future.

Can anyone make a case for a promotion at this time for any of the top 20ish preseason prospects other than vlad, Alford to aaa when he gets back, Bo, and Max?

Disagree. We're talking 2-3 years from now. There's a real chance a college player taken by the Jays in the upcoming draft reaches the majors before Bo does. Have you guys talked about who's spot in the rotation T.J. Zuech is taking? LOL
