Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 Alex Kirilloff TJS and out for the year Sucks for him, at least he isn't a pitcher.
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted March 3, 2017 Posted March 3, 2017 I thought this was a pretty interesting swing breakdown of Cody Bellinger:
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 Alford doesn't pass the eye test for me. I can see why he strikes out so much.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 Alford doesn't pass the eye test for me. I can see why he strikes out so much. Thank god we found this out before he even got to 1000 PAs in the minors.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 Yeah, he really nailed it last year when he put Ramon Flores and Gavin Cecchini ahead of Trea Turner. True, or when KATOH picked Benintendi as the best player in his draft class, just ahead of Bregman.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 Thank god we found this out before he even got to 1000 PAs in the minors. Funny John. I'm just saying his swing and swing path look odd. Anyone else think/notice this?
StevieRay Verified Member Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 Funny John. I'm just saying his swing and swing path look odd. Anyone else think/notice this? actually I find his swing to be very good. I saw a very quick swing with slight upper cut( possibly due to that particular at bat), but I feel more sold on him than ever after that. Thoroughly impressed.
TBJ12 Verified Member Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 Smoak called out on a pitch up by his chin. Nice to see the umpires in mid season form.
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 Smoak called out on a pitch up by his chin. Nice to see the umpires in mid season form. The Ump was just being nice and saving him the whiff.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 I could see Alford's swing from the side today...it looked a lot better then from the pitchers view.
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted March 5, 2017 Posted March 5, 2017 Longenhagen's top 100 prospects list is tentatively scheduled to be released March 13th.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted March 5, 2017 Posted March 5, 2017 Not sure if it was talked about elsewhere but Jays are about to get their deal with Dunedin done. Not a great deal, there would have been much better elsewhere but good on Shapiro to not take the better deal and stick it out with the site where there is history.

Who gives a f*** about spring training history?
TheHurl Site Manager Posted March 5, 2017 Posted March 5, 2017 I don't understand this at all. Who gives a f*** about spring training history? It's the FSL team history too. The better deal is thought to be a shared facility with the Astros in Palm Beach Gardens. This was about building a year round facility and people that they have hired (from admin people to coaches) are in the area now asking them to move 4 hours away might mean that they lose people they don't want to lose. In the end it looks like the team has to kick in $15M and find a new place for the FSL team for 2018 and have to remain with two separate facilities for the stadium and training facility. Atlanta kicked in way less in their deal with Sarasota, which is why Shapiro said that there were better deals out there but "Dunedin was a fit".
Laika Community Moderator Posted March 5, 2017 Posted March 5, 2017 Having the stadium and training facilities be disconnected seems awful
Maahfaace Verified Member Posted March 5, 2017 Posted March 5, 2017 Having the stadium and training facilities be disconnected seems awful Just need Trump to step in with some immenant domain, then sell that land to the Jays and start tearing down homes.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted March 5, 2017 Posted March 5, 2017 Having the stadium and training facilities be disconnected seems awful I don't like it either. But apparently they are married to Dunedin or atleast trying to make it work. You would think they would pay top dollar for what they actually want. Instead of settling for what Dunedin can do for them. Shapiro was really pushing for a state of the art Spring home. I don't think that's happening here.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 Shapiro was really pushing for a state of the art Spring home. I don't think that's happening here. Actually with all of the $81M going into the Training Facility they will get more than what they hoped. The money need to fix the stadium appears to be separate. Blue Jays President Mark Shapiro told the Tampa Bay Times that while a one-stop facility would be ideal, the team’s greatest need is for a year-round, state-of-the-art facility, which this deal ensures. “You never make deals and achieve an ideal state,” he told the Times, “but once we had time to thoroughly assess Dunedin as a partner, the benefits far outweighed everything else.”
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted March 7, 2017 Posted March 7, 2017 (edited) Nathan Kirby is fully recovered from TJS and finally pitched today for the first time since September 2015. He could be interesting to keep tabs on this season, as he was pretty highly regarded in his draft year. http://www.cbssports.com/fantasy/baseball/news/brewers-nathan-kirby-returns-to-game-action/ Edit: Taylor Williams is back, too. It would be amazing if they could make Dunedin look that good. It looks like a s*** hole now in comparison to the Twins, Rays and Red Sox stadiums.

Clearwater (Phillies) is the best low minors stadium I've been in.
BJBirdy Verified Member Posted March 7, 2017 Posted March 7, 2017 Clearwater (Phillies) is the best low minors stadium I've been in. I personally have never had a chance to attend a game there yet, but from what I've seen this is probably accurate. My favorite Grapefruit League stadium that I've been to is Joker Marchant Stadium in Lakeland, but I haven't been there in years. I'd love to check out Sarasota's renovated ballpark since the last time I was there was in 2010, just before the renovation.
wamco Verified Member Posted March 12, 2017 Posted March 12, 2017 What level do you see our top 20 prospects starting at ?
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted March 13, 2017 Posted March 13, 2017 What level do you see our top 20 prospects starting at ? Vlad Jr - low A full season Lansing. Alford - AA New Hampshire. SRF - could be AA or High A Dunedin. He split last year at Low A and High A and lit up High A, so it likely depends on his spring. MY personal bet is High A with a move up quick if he dominates. Urena - AA with a quick move up if he does well. Tellez- probably AAA Greene - AA Gourriel - AA

I could actually see it with him.

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted March 13, 2017 Posted March 13, 2017 That seems like a pretty good list. A bit high on Corey Ray for me, tho.
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted March 13, 2017 Posted March 13, 2017 At first glance, that list looks like one of the better ones we've seen this offseason.
