Has Emilio Guerrero taken a step forward this year back into prospect status? He's 23 so maybe a year older than you'd like to see in AA, but not terribly old.

Report

Hit

55

Switch-hitter, hits from a tall, even stance, leg kick from both sides; above-average bat speed, good hands, slightly uphill bat path, fair loft; hand path gets longer from the RH side, can get big with swings from the left side and sell out for power; aggressive, attacks early, hunts fastballs

Power

40

Below-average raw, lacks present physicality to drive the ball; generates some loft on balls with some present strength, modest projection for additional power down the road; in-game power should play near full utility

Baserunning/Speed

50

Average runner, 4.32 home-to-first from right side, 4.21 from left

Glove

50

Lacks body control, struggles with backhand at present, tries to circle balls to his right; quality reads, plays hops well, solid range in both directions, plays above speed; fair hands

Arm

60

Plus arm strength, throws have good carry and strength; accuracy should improve, raw game speed, present mistakes from rushing

Overall

Urena has a major-league floor as a utility player due to a plus arm that will play all over the field and enough feel to hit to warrant regular at-bats. He is getting better at the plate and has shown similar progress defensively as the year has gone on, though there's still a long way to go if he's going to develop into an everyday player.

That's the scouting report for our top prospect? gag

Defense report much better than I had thought. Hit tool is being underrated given Urena's age/level IMO. Maybe the lack of walks brings it down.

Damaso Garcia may be a good comp? Who remembers him?

I think Emilio Guerrero is a good

player and has a very good chance

of making the blue jays before

Anthony Alford. But Alford has improved over

the last couple of weeks but is now in the top

105 prospects.

Good to hear that Alford is a top 105 prospect. Can't wait until he cracks your top 100... Then he'll really be moving.

He's top 105 in the major leagues too. We must have a hell of a farm system.

I hate those scouting reports. They are either way to conservative. Or go overboard for certain guys.

8th home run for Alford

He's played alot better of late. Last 25 games he's slashed .330/.439/.585. wRC+ 195 and his k rate is better at around 20%. Not sure why he was so s*** early in the season but he looks fantastic again.

The injury was a big reason for his struggles, as soon as he got healthy, he started playing like what we expected.

Angel Perdomo, LHP, Toronto Blue Jays (Low-A Lansing)

Perdomo intrigues from the start as a left-hander with a 6-foot-6 frame. He gets a great extension helping the fastball play up, and his ability to get downhill pairs well with the hard arm-side run he features. His fastball didn't come without blemishes though, from the start of the game he had issues with consistency and command, and towards the end of his outing he was incapable of holding his velocity, dropping from the low 90s to as low as 86. His slider was also inconsistent in shape and command, showing nice sweeping action at its best. His changeup is a complete work in progress, and he has a significant need for reps with it, as he doesn't differentiate it well enough from the rest his current repertoire. Though, as many will note I likely saw him on a bad day, Perdomo still looked the part as a lanky lefty with a lot to like. His long delivery isn't a huge issue, and not nearly of as much concern as his propensity to fall off line when he finishes. —Grant Jones

Just put him in the pen and be done with it.

May be time for a promotion. He's played over 120 games at Dunedin, to date. He's recovered the stroke that led to .302/.380/.444 in 57 games in Dunedin last year.

Injuries? He had a bum knee as well as a concussion, the knee injury he's played through.

John Harris

IP: 7 2/3

Hits: 3

ER: 1

BB: 1

K: 5

101 pitches (68 strikes)

Another solid outing. Both the ER and Walk came in the 8th inning

Nice to see the results start to match his skill level on a more consistent basis. The stat scouts who had him out of their top 10 will have to backtrack eventually.

Yup. I still believe he is one of our top pitching prospects. He is on a nice run right now and he is showing what he is capable of.
