No, but all they did is trade a couple players to stock the farm. Their farm wasn't very good for the longest time. It's not like they've had some stocked farm system for some time, which is what he was refering to.

Step one. Be an aging team that is on the slide.

Step two. Adopt the philosophy that having a strong farm system is important.

Step three. Target players that can be moved for good future pieces.

Step four. Pull the trigger.

Step five. Invest and focus and drafting and signing international talent that is high level.

Step six. Be strategic in how you use the farm as assets going forward.

It can be argued that the Yankees have the first five steps covered. How they deal with the final one is up to their own philosophy.

They did

They've had an aging team for a decade, this is probably the first time they actually did a fairly big sell and cashed in big time.

They did a great job of selling though, sold from a position of strength into a premium market to maximize their return. They could've rebuilded like the Reds did, which is a piss-poor excuse for a rebuild for what they did.

Amazing job.

Their farm wasn't bad before the trades. Wasn't stacked but they do have some good players down there.

They've generally been a competitive team for most seasons even though they were older...up until recently. And I think we're straying from the original comment, which was todd saying he doesn't want the Jays to turn into what the Yankees are now. If you really look at the state of the Yankees right now, they're going to be shedding a lot of money over the next couple of seasons. Couple that with the Farm System they now have and I think they'll be getting good pretty damn fast. I don't see this as a 5 year rebuild.

And just for the record three maybe four years ago the blue jays HAD the best farm system

in the league.

Some of the prospects the jays have traded away are

Noah.S

Joe Musgrove

Jake Marsnick could have spelled his last name wrong

Matt Boyd

Gaudalope Chavez

Jairo Labourt

To name a few.

Hoffman, Norris, Desclafani, Dyson (basically just given away)...

One impact player. Thanks for coming out Todd!

DeSclafani's pretty good. Musgrove has a decent chance to be a good starter as well

Replacement level players generally do not fall under the impact player classification.

3 fWAR/30 starts for DeSclafani is a pretty solid pitcher.

DeSclafani is like a solid #3 lol. Musgrove is probably really good.

I wasn't talking about Anthony, as he was not on the list that the beloved Todd posted. Musgrove is trash and will always be.

Okay, I'm ignoring Todd. Have you watched Musgrove? He's looked fantastic so far and has strong minor league numbers. Not sure what there isn't to like, passes the eye test and number test.

Haven't watched much of him to be honest, could be totally wrong and he turns out to be a stud. He just never excited me much.

I don't know about that. I was a huge fan of his arsenal when we drafted him and I thought we sold low.

Did I read the stat line right? Does Richard Urena have 3 triples tonight?

Not only that, but this is his 5th triple in his 7th game in New Hampshire.

John Harris

IP: 7 (complete game)

Hits: 4

ER: 2

BB: 1

K: 4

84 pitches (60 strikes)

He has been pretty good in Dunedin after his 1st start there.

Norberto Obeso on-base another 5 times tonight. Pretty bizarre that he's still in the GCL at 21. Maybe the org pegs him as a non-prospect?

You would think if they thought of him as a prospect he would at least be in Bluefield or Vancouver. If he's legit though he'll prove it eventually. Next season Vancouver or Bluefield for sure, and then full season ball when he's 23.

What ever happened to Mitch Nay?

He's injured and hasn't played this season. But before that his raw power just never showed up in games.
Hit

55

Switch-hitter, hits from a tall, even stance, leg kick from both sides; above-average bat speed, good hands, slightly uphill bat path, fair loft; hand path gets longer from the RH side, can get big with swings from the left side and sell out for power; aggressive, attacks early, hunts fastballs

40

Arm

60

Overall

Urena has a major-league floor as a utility player due to a plus arm that will play all over the field and enough feel to hit to warrant regular at-bats. He is getting better at the plate and has shown similar progress defensively as the year has gone on, though there's still a long way to go if he's going to develop into an everyday player.
