Hansel touching 97 in the 1st. So that fangraphs article about him sitting 89-93 can go out the window

Now imagine being Hansel Rodriguez.

You just got traded from the organization that signed you at 17, for major leaguer Melvin Upton. Padres don't have an Appy or Pioneer league team so then you're automatically getting promoted to the NWL, a level you've never pitched at before. Your first start in front of your new coaches, teammates and organization is also against your former teammates and coaches. Against the team you probably would have been pitching for if you had not been traded. In front of a sold out crowd at the Nat.

Guy must be nervous as hell.

That's good to see the Jays think that much of them to use a visa on them.

I am curious do you ever see a kid not from the Carribean play in the DSL and how much of a jump it It to the GCL?

I don't think it's a massive jump talent wise. The biggest difference is the country and lifestyle change.

Sam Buelens from Belgium has spent the last 2 season with the DSL Jays - (in the middle)

My updated top 10 Jays prospects:

1. Sean Reid-Foley

2. Anthony Alford

3. Jon Harris

4. Conner Greene

5. Richard Urena

6. Harold Ramirez

7. Rowdy Tellez

8. Reese McGuire

9. Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

10. T.J. Zeuch

I had a very difficult time ranking prospects 3 through 9, as all 7 of them have a case for being top 150 prospects in baseball and perhaps even low top 100 in some instances.

Harold Ramirez looks like an extremely talented hitter and I may rank him higher in the future, but I need more time to get a feel for his fielding and speed, as well as his power potential. Complementing the hit tool with some power would give him the potential of an above average regular.

As for Reese McGuire, I need to see more from his bat before moving him up on the list. Fortunately, he's young enough and has enough bat speed to do just that. His receiving skills may indeed be elite (and I gave it weight in the rankings), but experience has taught me to be skeptical of those reports until we have some major league data. That's certainly not a criticism, just healthy skepticism of often unreliable reports.

Harris at 11 and Greene at 12 are completely baffling and miles away from what stats and scouting reports would suggest. Alford behind Urena is also confusing given the former's resurgence since becoming healthy.

Greenes stats are pretty terrible this year. 12 seems fine

When's the last time you checked Greene's stats? They bad.

Are we the same person now?

If so, let me know and I'll f***ing kill myself

Leaving the merits of my approach aside, you guys should know by now that I'm far from a stats scout. I like to watch the guys and put my own input into the rankings because I enjoy it, even if I'm not right as often.

I like Greene's athleticism and repeatable delivery. He's got great control and the walks are a result of him nibbling. His recent promotion gives me faith that the Jays brass sees the same thing and want to challenge him at age 21 in AAA.

Okay but he doesn't have an out pitch or the command

Well last year the book on him was +command and potential + changeup.

I'm assuming he's lost the feel for the changeup this year because guys who nibble with an out pitch should at least get K's.

Classic Grant.

Alford (high strike out guy) behind Urena (low strike out guy, well atleast this year) is "confusing".

A little passive aggessive nudge that anyone who doesn't agree with the great Grant is "confused".

Your own reality is not even consisted with itself, Grant you are a strawman along the lines of Trump, a narcosist who only follow your own nonsensical whims.

Gose - an obvious failure despite reaching a+ at 19 because Grant the genius knows strikeouts are bad.

Alford - destined for success, despite the strikeouts because Grant has said so by decree.

I realize Alford was injured earlier this year, I realize he spent time playing football.. at the same time he is 2 years older than Gose was in Dunedin.

I'm not dissing Alford... I'm just amused that that you love Alford despite the strikeouts.

Neither did Aaron Sanchez. He's just 21 and has good command of his fastball and an exceptional changeup. The curve ball has good bite, but his difficulty commanding it has led to most of his problems this year.

If you need another scout heavy opinion, BA just ranked him a top 100 prospect in baseball.
