King Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 Bichette 2/4 with another homer today
Cyborg Verified Member Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 Bichette lead professional baseball in qualified wRC+ before today: http://www.fangraphs.com/minorleaders.aspx?pos=all&stats=bat&lg=all&qual=y&type=1&season=2016&team=0&players=0&sort=18,d
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 Make that 3/5 with a dinger. What a monster. Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't HRs difficult to amass in the GCL?
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 It's time to promote Bo. At this rate he'll finish the season in Vancouver.
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 When was the last time we drafted a bat who raked like this right out of the gate?
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 When was the last time we drafted a bat who raked like this right out of the gate? Snider was pretty beastly.
Cyborg Verified Member Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 What a monster. Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't HRs difficult to amass in the GCL? He has 4 now. No one hit 4 on the GCL Jays last year. Juan Tejada hit 5 the year before and Barreto had 4 in 2012.

Sounds awesome then. Who's leader in the entire GCL right now? Also, how much longer does the season go? It would be really encouraging if he hits even more.

King Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 Leader has 5, Jays now have two guys at 4. Bichette and their 1B who's name escapes me. You mean... David Jacob?
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 You mean... David Jacob? The legend himself.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2016 Author Posted July 18, 2016 Not sure if anyone has noticed but Chase De Jong is having himself a really nice season in AA with the Dodgers. Sweet little pickup for them and for cap room.

tercet Verified Member Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 What is the MLE of 6% walk in GCL? -7.4%?
nmrch Verified Member Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 What is the MLE of 6% walk in GCL? -7.4%? When someone's making elite contact like that its kind of hard to interpret their walk rate. We don't really know if Bichette is a free swinger just based on that.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 Yeah we kinda have to treat it as De Jong + Locastro for Guerrero. + all the other IFA prospects they could have signed..

Cyborg Verified Member Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 What is the MLE of 6% walk in GCL? -7.4%? Low level walk rate pretty much doesn't matter. Like at all.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2016 Author Posted July 19, 2016 Very true. He could just be getting many great pitches to hit. I used that argument when JPA was smashing in AAA. I was really really wrong lol. That said, I'm not going to worry about BoBi's walk rate until the SS gets larger.

John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 BB% doesn't matter but K% does. I think saying it doesn't matter at all isnt quite true(you wouldn't want to see 0 walks in 100 PA) but it's certainly not at the top of the list of things to care about in rookie ball.

Save your time and energy and start paying attention to players when they get to aa. I wouldn't say that's true at all. Everything matters, every plate appearance, and every inning. If someone isn't doing well in Rookie ball that should effect how you project them in higher levels and their likelihood of eventually making it to the bigs. Its very rare for someone to flop at the lower levels and then turn it around.
