No discussion on this yet? Looks like a mismatch. Texas' only good starter is Hamels, and he won't even likely pitch in game 1. After that it's Gallardo and Colby Lewis.

Offense is pretty dangerous, but the Jays are probably going to destroy their pitching staff.

3 of 5 Rangers pitchers in the series will be lefties. That is a good thing.

The other is Yovani Gallardo. Also a good thing.

Gallardo has owned us, so i'm worried about him. Also worried about Prince hitting in the dome.

I think we'll beat Hamels and Holland easy though. Overall, Texas is the only AL team I'm actually scared of. But I think we can beat them.

Gallardo has destroyed us

If they can sort out his tricks the third time around, he is easily hittable. Fortunately, he's not the same pitcher that he was with the Brewers.

I'm surprised you say this. I think Houston is a huge threat, and the Royals have won a f***ing ton of baseball games in the last two years. I think Texas is the worst of the 10 playoff teams.

Are you guys forgetting about Holland? He hasn't been great but is more than capable of having a very good start. Still seems like a mismatch on paper, although Beltre and Choo have been great lately.

Starting an average (or below) lefty against Toronto seems like a bad idea. They should try to avoid starting him.

In checking vs. stats, it seems like Tulo, Edwin, Revere and JD (JD has a smaller sample size however) have the best individual numbers vs. Gallardo, while the rest are pretty much miserable. Edwin in particular is 5-for-16 with 3 HRs while Tulo kills him, being 11-for-27 lifetime. As long as Edwin keeps up his current form and Tulo comes through I think he should be able to deal some major damage to him if Revere and JD can get on ahead of those two.

He's more capable than their other starters, IMO. Are they actually going to go with Gallardo/Lewis over Holland?

Holland's arm would explode as he released a pitch to Donaldson. Said pitch would then explode into the 5th deck

I'm more looking at who has been hot and who hasn't, since that's all that it really comes down to in the Playoffs. Jays and Rangers are super hot. Yanks, Royals, and Astros have all been tanking.

This is what I think. Houston's pitching staff (particularly in a 5 game series) could be deadly. You never know what might happen with that short porch in Yankee stadium, or with their vets.

At least now people will stop bitching about the Jays "not trying" to win home field adv. Texas is quite easily the worst playoff team out of both leagues

Houston will be at their most vulnerable is round 1 (if they get there) with Keuchel getting just one start. In a 7 game series, with Keuchel starting 2 or 3 games, they're scary. That offense can erupt at any time.

But Price would get the same 2-3 starts, and the Jays offence is much better than Houston. The Astros strike out way too much.
