I found it interesting that in the same interview, he said that he believed that it would be EE who would extend (imply leaving money on the table) and that JB would want to get every last $ and therefore may head elsewhere assuming the Jays can't extend both. I thought that was an interesting perspective

Love Jose, But I mentioned that to SJF in another thread yesterday as he said Edwin and Jose would extend. I don't think so on Jose.

 

Im not thinking 4/5 @20mm+ per is a wise investment on a 36 year old with D limitations. He has missed a good part of a couple seasons already due to injury.

I think he is doing something right. He is a good reporter. Doesn't reflect a lot of bias in his stories but also isn't milk toast. I had a 5 min chat with him this season in a concession lineup at Minute Maid...just seemed like a decent guy at first blush.

I think Shi is just a good journalist and does his job well, does his homework and writes pieces people can read with facts & quotes to back up his thoughts. He's practically the winner by default though.

 

With Davis, I feel like he'e never played an inning of his baseball in his life and asks borderline idiotic questions like "What does that stolen base mean to you?". Wilner probably has the toughest job of any of them having to talk to hockey fans after a Jays game and answer daily questions like "Why didn't Navarro just bunt with the tying run at first and 1 out? Instead he grounded in to a double play to end the game. Thanks for taking my call."

I really like Stephen Brunt

 

What I like most about Brunt is that he stays in those areas he knows best... and knows them really, really well. He's not going to be able to tell you who the Jays top 10 prospects are. But he never tries to pretend or give the illusion he can.

To me, JB is actually a scarier AB then EE. His sense of ball/strike is just unbelievable. If he is playing against me, I'd be sweating it out as to how to pitch to this guy. In fact JB and his plate discipline/walks is the one topic that inevitably get brought up with my baseball buddies here in Dodgers land.

 

It's questionable whether he'd be willing to go into FA as a DH though...

Tim and Sid are entertaining and bring about good discussion on whats going on in sports. I don't take their analysis on baseball or other sports seriously, though they do put on a good show and I will tune in at times.

I guess I really have the opposite view on Tim and Sid. I find them extremely irritating to listen to. But that's just me. From what I hear they are getting great numbers.

 

The one person I do enjoy listening to is Scott McArthur of TSN.

I know this is from a different era but the one guy that made a huge impression on me as a kid watching Jays game was Tony Kubek. This was back in the late 80's. Talk about a Canadian bias - There was no MLB TV, no ESPN coverage. But Kubek just had a way of calling the game that made it felt like you were watching it with your dad or older brother who knew a lot more about baseball than you did. For me personally, Kubek sets the bar.

 

In those days, I also enjoyed Gammons only for the fact that he gave love to the Jays when everyone else outside of TO didn't know who they were. The funny thing is that for some reason, I just remember him keep harping on a Jays prospect that was going to be big - Sil Campusano. In the end, he never amounted much to anything really but I just loved the fact that Gammons kept putting the Jays in the national spotlight

Yeah that was really embarassing... Thing i hate most about Davis he truly goes out of his way to try to get people to agree with him. He always had to go over the top in his interviews to make it seem like Toronto is a great place. Whether its making players comment about the away fans or the packed stadium he always has to point it out and its very annoying.

I want to give a vote of confidence to Barry Davis. He is only human and will make slips at times, but for fans who want to follow the Blue Jays his twitter account is excellent with all sorts of daily information and inside information on Blue Jays players.

Hazel Mae - stumbles and fumbles her way through interviews, like many annoying female sportscasters, she rambles on in a weird affect to make it look like she's all cool and knows something about baseball and to top it off, I've noticed she... has weird eyes and strange teeth (in what world is she HOT?) - take away the makeup and she looks like that f***ing Yoda creature from Lord of the Rings. Anyone who think she's HOT doesn't get out much.

 

Kevin Barker - I only found out a while ago that this insufferable tool with the annoying drawl and ridiculous "analysis" on that stupid show with Jeff "I Have a Face for Radio" Blair., was married to the equally annoying aforementioned google eye Hazel.

Anyone see his haircut lately? He looks like a serial killer and each time I hear his voice, I want to hack my ears off and feed them to my budgie. Blair himself isn't so bad on the show, albeit very very difficult to look at.

As has been mentioned by many, its obvious the players don't like this tool with the cringe inducing questions and "hey I'm your buddy" kind of attitude with true athletes who are doing their best not to punch that little twerp in the head.

 

Arash OnmyFanny - His oddly shaped head, stupid looking glasses and that VOICE>....ugh.....there's something about his lips and mouth when he talks that makes me wanna regurgitate my breakfast and then feed the regurgitation to my aforementioned budgie. I love watching the Fan with McCown, but A-rash has been on so much lately ostensibly to fill the gap left by the great Stephen Brunt, I end up PVRing the show and fast forwarding any time Arash OnMyAss speaks. And believe me, I do ALOT of f-forwarding cuz that f***er won't shut the f*** up.
