Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 Kluber 8 wins, 16 losses, 3.05 xFIP, 5.2 WAR LOL
Laika Community Moderator Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 Should be Kershaw and Sale. They had the best years. Will be Arrieta and Price. DIPS dogmatist, lol
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 What stats clearly show that Sale has had the best season...and how to they compare to Price and Kike L.
BTS Community Moderator Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-al-cy-young-discussion/ Article on the topic. Author likes Sale > Keuchel > Price. Commenters no real consensus. Nobody dumn enough to suggest Carrasco.
Governator Community Moderator Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 f*** Sale and his pitching in meaningless games to mediocre opponents. Price all the way. Yea and Roger Clemens back-to-back and Roy Halladay. Totally undeserving, f*** them.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 I disagree, considering Sale's K% is the best we've got to see since Randy Johnson in 2003(?). That's a better story for the award imo. I was just researching this and Darvish actually had a higher K rate in 2013.
Governator Community Moderator Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 I was just researching this and Darvish actually had a higher K rate in 2013. Was it by much? At the time when I searched he was leading, granted it was at least a week before I even posted that. I went back through year to year. Edit: I see, his last 5 starts of the season were all lower than his season K/9, lowering it down from the 11.9x it was when I was searching.

Baseball Reference has it all in one place: http://www.baseball-reference.com/leaders/strikeouts_per_nine_season.shtml Darvish just edges out Sale for 9th all time. Six of the other top 10 seasons are by Randy Johnson!

There was a thread way back discussing who could reach 300 k's next and I said Darvish. The guy has a whole arsenal of tricks and is maybe the most fun pitcher to watch. At least we were fortunate enough to see the 300 k accomplishment this year though!

KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 But he also walked like twice as many. Yeah he wasn't as good as Sale but he's damn good all the same.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 Yeah he wasn't as good as Sale but he's damn good all the same. He's man-crush-worthy, indeed.
