jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 Some fans are pessimistic, others optimistic, and then there are realists like me. Is it possible for the Jays to win three straight with our three best starting pitchers? Sure. But we're also facing a solid team that will bring out their top pitchers as well, along with an offense that plays great fundamentals and provides solid defense with a rock solid bullpen. Things aren't looking great for the Jays - the odds are not in our favor. So if I had to bet, we would be lose once in the next 3 games, and I don't fault for people not wanting to watch the game considering the position we are in. No one wants to shell a ton of money to watch KC clinch on our turf. And don't act like we have a ton of bandwagon fans - the same trend would show anywhere else. I have my expectations set low anyway so that I don't crash and burn on the way down. Not in Chicago.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 ? I was making a general statement about how many people have completely jumped off the bandwagon. Every single person in my office that claims to be a hardcore Jays fan is already accepting defeat. Ticket prices are a reflection of that. It's disgusting. I hate f***ing Toronto fans. There are maybe only 15,000-20,000 loyal baseball fans in this city. The rest just attended games after August 1st and will continue to do so for the Home Opener, Canada Day, and Bobblehead/Jersey giveaway days.
candymartinez Verified Member Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 I'm really debating going today. Prices are falling fast. Won't ever again get to see an ALCS game for this cheap. Would suck hard if they lose, but they have a good 55-60% chance of winning today.
Jonzo Verified Member Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 I can't make todays game, Section 104 Row 7. Will take whatever for 'em...just PM me something reasonably fair and send me an email money transfer, and I'll send you the PDF.

I've gone to two games so far and had to sell the ALDS Game 5 ticket because of work. It's too bad we never got a weekend home game.

TheHurl Site Manager Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 Not in Chicago. How did Chicago do the bleachers for the playoffs? Can't still be first come first serve.

From the looks on Stubhub, everyone has an assigned spot so its not general admission like during the regular season. Cheapest pair is $290 USD in the bleachers (not including fees and conversion rate) for tonights game.

If you can be patient and wait until 10-15 mins before game time to buy a ticket on Stubhub, then do it. Download the app and its easy to purchase seats on your phone. Only thing is you need to print a hard copy of your ticket.

That would be ideal, but I live a good 60-90 minute drive from Rogers Centre. Maybe I'll check around 1:30.

Maybe I'll check around 1:30. You should still be able to find decent prices, though if you wait before game time they likely will drop especially single tickets. Not sure if there is a Staples or a post office near by where you could print something. I know scalpers yesterday weren't giving into Stubhub prices though near game time. They know that you are required to print them for entry, so they hold that against you.

I agree with everything you said, but don't hate on Bobble head day haha, been going to that gongshow each bobblehead day since 2009, my collection is pretty solid.
Governator Community Moderator Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 How safe is stubhub? There's an OF single for $65 that seems way too low. I believe they were $50-$60 for yesterday's game, so it's not out there. StubHub will protect you the buyer (see stangstag). So if the ticket doesn't let you in, you file a complaint and they will refund you. That's when you see a scalper at game time and hope for a near face value ticket, knowing you will be getting your money back from the previous purchase. You could also buy another on stubhub at that point for dirt cheap and someone mentioned a while back that there is a UPS store close by that lets you print from your phone.

I used to collect all dem bobbleheads back when I was in high school and university. Now I just can't force myself to lineup at 9:30 or 10 AM on a Sunday morning and then have to wait around 2.5 hours in the ballpark before first pitch. If its a bobblehead I really want, I'd rather just buy it off Kijiji afterwards for $25-$30.
vdubmvp Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 This is so true. No matter how unhappy the game is making you right now, you will absolutely miss it in the winter. That's a good thing to keep in mind today. I honestly don't even know how I ever make it through the offseason.

Yeah getting there for 10am isn't the best thing on a Sunday, you can bring in your own food and drinks now so I usually just pack some peanuts, subway and gateraid and I am all set.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 tickets selling fast right now I think what you have is a situation where people are taking down their listings and figured that they are just better off going to the game rather than let their tickets go at half of face value. Alongside I'm sure there are people who saw all the cheap seats available are buying now since they likely will be heading downtown shortly in the next hour or so.
West Texas Forever Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 I will be in the 500's but will try and move down by the 3rd inning if I see rows of empty seats, I will "head down to the Jays shop" and then 007 my way past a non uber usher.

There are hardly any ushers in the 200 level down the baselines. I think they have 1 usher for like 3 every sections after the TD Zone. I was in 212 yesterday and didn't see an usher until like 7th or 8th inning in my section.

The bandwagon are their market though. The "I'm going so I can post pictures saying I was there" crowd is gone

I bought the tickets knowing full well that I would not be able to go to all, let alone afford the whole trip. I didn't like my chances with the general public days anyways.
