Man I was just thinking it over. It's amazing that Loup has been the only disappointment for this team.

I guess you could say Hutch is also a disappointment, but its also showed that he was very unlucky. But I expected domination after his great 2014 half.

Saunders? Not the same type of disappointment but still disappointment.

Loup was actually having the best year of his career by far, in terms of skill. His ERA luck was just horrendous, on all fronts (BABIP, HR/FB%, LOB%).

Loup is a stud lefty and teams like Tampa are probably already targeting him in offseason trades.

He's the lefty version of Sammy Dyson

I seem to remember a few times him getting weak contact only for it to roll to the worst spot in the infield for a base hit. He didn't really help himself with giving up all those high leverage HR and hitting LHH though.

There has to be a point where the stats can be called ******** and we can gain more insight from scouting. I'm not sure if thats the case with Loup, because I haven't watched him pitch (I immediately turn the TV off) and it doesn't help that relievers are always hit by small sample size. But when I throw Hutch as an example, you can see the guy obviously has problems with his fastball command serving up meatballs. His stuff is still good - throwing hard, wipeout slider. But I don't think he's as dominating as the numbers suggest he should be.

Yes. This occurs in extremely small sample sizes, and in volatile environments like amateur baseball and rookie ball. That's pretty much it.

Not on the Jays, but Miguel Castro has been called up to Colorado. Let's see how he does this time around, or will he be wrecked like every Rockies pitcher?

His numbers in AAA for Colorado have been pretty bad. At this point it is looking like we traded Hoffman for Troy Tulowitzki and $40 million in cash.

Tinoco looks like a pretty good SP prospect at this point.

Possibly. Castro, despite a 1.32 ERA, has had control problems, and a dropping K rate.

Pompey has actually struggled lately in Buffalo. Last 8 games he has 2 Hits in 28 ABs with 0 BB and 9 SO.

He'll mostly be used for PRing and defensive replacement as it stands right now.

Loup has a 2.78 xFIP and a 2.37 SIERRA. He's been hurt mostly by an unsustainable 23% HR/FB ratio (a little babip bad luck too, which probably amplifies the damage). His strikeout rate, walk rate, etc are all fantastic. Now maybe he's grooving an unusual number of pitches to result in the home runs, I don't know. Overall though, he's been one of our best pitchers in terms of analytics.

The minority that were clamouring that he is an upgrade on Revere or Pillar is eerily quiet now.

I think all of the home runs given up have been against righties, going forward you wouldn't expect that high HR rate to continue, but he should predominately be used against LHH to help mitigate this kind of damage. One has to only look at his career numbers against RHH to realize hes best suited as a loogy option who occasionally faces RHH.

Where are you getting that from? I just looked it up and he has 9 hits in 29 ABs with 5 BB and 4 SO

The last ten games feature on the MILB player page has a glitch in it, it actually shows the first 10 games. You have the numbers right though, Pompey is not on a cold streak.

Loup better not get a single meaningful inning. Hes been a dumpster fire in AAA. No business in the majors. Yes I know hes unlucky as f*** but hes been consistently unlucky and s***.

I guess Burhleh will prob serve as the extra LHP in the playoffs

If someone is consistently unlucky, is it really luck, or are you just a f***ing retard?

It's not actually a glitch. FWIW, now that he's been called up, the MILB page reflects his last 10 games with the Blue Jays, not Buffalo. Accordingly, the numbers date back to the end of April.
