The thing is, I was playing by the rules, I wasn't trolling. I was commenting on a game day thread like everyone else here but just because I signed up today I get banned with the whole group of trollers there? I stood up to racism in the thread, made good posts, interacted with veteran posters and then still get banned without a warning.

If that is what got me banned I apologize, but it's not like I was part of the problem. Is my old account banned permanently or is it a temporary thing?

I vote for KingKat. He's great. Though all three in the first post are good, and we could definitely use more than one.

Problem with that is the old board had that system and didn't really stop them. Trolls are patient. They are equally as trolly the next day.

 

Can we not just implement an IP address ban?

Feel your pain Brother, same thing happened to me! I was banned for a week for it, crazy!

Well if me creating a new account makes people mad, I'd be happy to delete this. I only did it because i wasn't sent an email or anything notifying me. All of a sudden I just couldn't sign in. I'd just like to know how long the penalty is.

Probably just a 24 hour ban. But keep this account if you want until the other is back, seeing as you likely didn't even get banned for any good reason.

I'm glad OP created this thread to talk about moderation. I am a long time Blue Jays fan and lurker (hello) and I created an account to weigh in on these issues. This message board has become impossible to read. I used to read the MLB.com Blue Jays message board but stopped when I found this one. It features less personal attacks than this one, but I do prefer the level of discussion that occurs here.

 

Recently though, the people whose posts I like reading no longer seem to post much. There are a few people here who have decided to make it not fun for everyone by creating many accounts and spamming the heck out of every thread.

 

Also there was a thread recently where one of the moderators (not sure which one) used a homophobic slur. His post looks to be deleted but I haven't seen that addressed anywhere and I found the exchange repulsive. Perhaps the administrator (people called him Juiced?) could weigh in on this matter too.

Alright guys, this will be my new account. The Belliss11 account was created with my backup email. This one is now with my real email. We discovered that my old account was an accidental permanent ban lol. Oh well, s*** happens. I will just need to start again!

I've noticed the same thing. A lot of new accounts were created after the deadline. I guess it is a good thing as it means the Jays are rolling. But man, it was BAD in there today.

Honestly I was too hungover to have my iPad out while watching the game, so I wasn't in today's GDT. But based on the sound of it, it looks like that was a good thing.

 

I was at last nights game and had WAY too much to drink before, during, and after the game. Clearly a poor decision since I'm 30+ it takes me the entire next day to recover, lol.

we have asked for a 24 hour wait for people to be able to post. it's up to admin to institute it or not.

 

Excellent idea. Anyone who wants to post on this forum will surely be willing to wait 24 hours. That would cut down on the trolling accounts. It would also eliminate people from creating a new account within minutes of being banned.

 

This would be the single most helpful thing

All you need is moderator approval for new accounts, like what Orioles Hangout uses to shut us out of signing up there. Can you imagine if they didn't have that approval process? People from this forum would have burned that place down by now, and that function has saved them from a lot of our would-be troll posts. It allows new accounts to be screened, so that the people that do keep coming back have to at least be extremely creative with it.
