Problem with that is the old board had that system and didn't really stop them. Trolls are patient. They are equally as trolly the next day.

 

Yes. Dogg and Metallijay had multiple accounts already set as backups for after their anticipated bamnings. They did the same thing here at first.

All you need is moderator approval for new accounts, like what Orioles Hangout uses to shut us out of signing up there. Can you imagine if they didn't have that approval process? People from this forum would have burned that place down by now, and that function has saved them from a lot of our would-be troll posts. It allows new accounts to be screened, so that the people that do keep coming back have to at least be extremely creative with it.

 

They thoroughly review each application at Orioles Hangout I think. I put in an application once and used an entirely different name with zero reference to Toronto, and they rejected my application. Maybe they looked up my IP address and saw it was from Toronto.. lol.

we have asked for a 24 hour wait for people to be able to post. it's up to admin to institute it or not.

 

Another suggestion I have seen on other forums is a wait time before you can start threads. For example a poster must have 100 posts before they can start a thread or reach 50 thanks. Don't know if that's institutable.

Here is an idea...What if we make a "Suggested Ignore List" Thread. Anyone we suspect as being a troll, we just add them to the list. We urge all members (non troll) to ignore list these users immediately. WHen they realize no one can see their posts, their likely to give up.

Man, I can't believe I got banned for no reason. All I did during the GDT was ask the mods to clean up as the trolls were infesting. Not only was I banned, but I was also not given any notice. Unbelievable. Mods, could you please tell me why and how long my banning will be?

Equality is important. A very thick skin is also very important.

 

I hope that if another moderator is added it will be someone who understands Sabermetrics but tempers that knowledge with an enjoyment of the game of baseball, which is played by humans and anything can happen on any day. In other words, I hope it won't be a fundamentalist Sabermetrics extremist; if it is, I am sure that I will be permanently banned on his/her very first day.

I have never detected any trolly behaviour from him. The problem is that we have a mod who loves flexing his dick in every thread possible and goading people into arguments.

Seriously though, I'm happy to volunteer. I'm here for 90% of the games, and I'm at a point where I'm extremely frustrated by the trolls.
