darth_helmet Verified Member Posted August 24, 2015 Posted August 24, 2015 If the season ended 2 weeks ago, I would have said Trout. If it ended today, I'd say Donaldson. I really think he just catapulted ahead of Trout with the past series. It'll be an interesting run until the end of September. I don't expect Trout to stay as cold as he's been for much longer. The Jays fan in me of course hopes Donaldson keeps crushing it and stay ahead in the race. On a side note, if LA doesn't find it's way back into a playoff spot that will only add more chance of Donaldson winning it.

FirstPitchStrike Verified Member Posted August 24, 2015 Posted August 24, 2015 Didn't realize JD hadn't struck out the entire series.
Statman Verified Member Posted August 24, 2015 Posted August 24, 2015 So Don Zaun initially leans toward Trout for MVP because Trout plays CF as opposed to 3rd base. Now Don Zaun leans toward Donaldson because the Angels are trending downwards out of a playoff birth. My god!
MagicMike Verified Member Posted August 24, 2015 Posted August 24, 2015 Didn't realize JD hadn't struck out the entire series. [ATTACH=CONFIG]1161[/ATTACH] The thing about Trout... he strikes out a lot [for the high-caliber player he is].
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted August 24, 2015 Posted August 24, 2015 The thing about Trout... he strikes out a lot [for the high-caliber player he is]. All or nothing. He's gets a lot of all.
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted August 24, 2015 Posted August 24, 2015 The thing about Trout... he strikes out a lot [for the high-caliber player he is]. No he doesn't. He strikes out at a league average rate.

Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted August 24, 2015 Posted August 24, 2015 Can you even read? Yes I can, and I implied it doesn't matter.
MagicMike Verified Member Posted August 24, 2015 Posted August 24, 2015 Maybe it's just me but I would say lg avg K rate for the, arguably, best hitter in baseball is a touch high.

darth_helmet Verified Member Posted August 24, 2015 Posted August 24, 2015 Take off the helmet Zaun, we know it's you. I don't follow you, why is that a Zaun thing to say? I think my view is pretty fair. Trout had the better numbers before August started. Now... not so much. A cold month for Trout and a hot month for Donaldson have completely turned it around.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 Mike Trout hitting .200 with 1 HR in the month of August and the team is fading with him

Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 Miggy won't have the counting stats (which shouldn't have a ton of weight, but we know they do) and his team sucks, but he's having the quietest .370/.473/.611, 195 wRC+ (career high) in my recent memory....

Its cuz the Tigers are having a terrible season. Same with Goldschmidt in the NL. You don't hear about players on crap teams. Votto is having an unreal season too.

Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 Harper should still win MVP easily in the NL even though his team has been mediocre and will not make the playoffs He should but the media hype train is getting going on Rizzo as the mvp
Statman Verified Member Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 Josh Donaldson now beginning to run away with the AL MVP... 7.3 fWAR vs. 6.8 fWAR Only 0.2 fWAR behind Harper. Donaldson might end up being the best player in MLB by the end of the year.

Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 I really thought that Trout was going to take it... Not because Donaldson didn't deserve it, but because I thought it would be fairly close and they'd give it to Trout cause he's the golden boy. But Donaldson is pulling away now... To the point where I don't think they can vote Trout... Even if they really want to.
Statman Verified Member Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 Donaldson has the highest/most important saber stat for the nerds with a 7.3 fWAR and the fundamentalist voters will love dat .300 plus a-fridge (projecting), 2nd in the league in dingers, leads the league with 104 ribeeeez and dem intangibles being the catalyst for the blue jays helping them make the playoffs for the first time in over 20 years. He has this won on all fronts.
BTS Community Moderator Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 So Donaldson should have this thing all wrapped up. What a stud.
Maahfaace Verified Member Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 JD be pulling away from Trout!!!!
