polar bear Verified Member Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 Doesn't seem to get on base an awful lot,is everyone still wanting him leading off. Would Revere not be a better option.? Don't bite my head off, just asking.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 Martin would be ideal since we aren't going for a speedy stolen type of a lead off. Throw Martin at 1 to get on for the beef and have Tulo 4th or 5th
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 Why would you bat a guy with a .325 OBP higher than a guy with a .349 OBP? Why would you give more ABs over the course of a game to a guy with a .301 wOBA rather than a guy with a .353 wOBA? Your question makes no sense on its face, plus you spelled Tulowitzki wrong.

Don't bite my head off, just asking. Troy Tulowitzki usually has an OBP close to .400 most years. I would keep him there.

CHRIS Verified Member Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 I definitely want our best hitters getting the most ABs. To me having Tulo, JD and Bautista be every opposing pitcher's first inning is perfect.
LTR Verified Member Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 Career .371 OBP. What he's done in 10 ABs as a Blue Jays is irrelevant. /DeleteThreadPlease
Nafro Verified Member Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 You do realize what our record is with him in the lead-off spot. I could probably not think of any more silly of a thing to discuss. At least wait until we LOSE ONE GAME...with him batting in the lead-off spot.

His three homers aside,he's been less than average leading off since becoming a Jay, and probably would be a better fit batting fourth or fifth. He never looks happy,so just wondering if he is comfortable there.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 If you want to mispell his name, at least do Tulowinski or Tulowinstreak

Because that guy is black and he is really fast.
Nafro Verified Member Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 (edited) I'm sorry, I'm all for advanced stats. 12-0 trumps stats for me..sorry. I've had to wear the same underwear for this entire 9-game winning streak, because that is obviously why they keep on winning. Anybody want to smell if I'm serious? Edited August 12, 2015 by Nafro

Will you please look at other stats besides just batting average. And never looks happy? Maybe he is taking his job seriously instead of walking around with a s*** eating grin all the time like Reyes did.

Why would you put aside those 3 HR? Ben Revere has 3 HR in his CAREER. If you give Troy less ABs, he will hit less HR. This is super simple.
Inklink Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 At least his strikeouts aren't ugly, off balance, upward hacks.
JFD Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 if/when everyone's healthy, I'd like to see him in the 3 spot. Travis Donaldson Tulo Bautista EE Martin who gives ashit

There would be a huge marketplace for those underwear if you choose to sell.

Don't bite my head off, just asking. He gets more fastballs to hit, and generally more AB's leading off over the course of a season. I think it's awesome. And really the lead off guy is only guaranteed to lead off once a game.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 and generally more AB's leading off over the course of a season. For that reason alone, I would pack the top of my lineup with my best players. I don't know why more teams don't do this. 50-90 more at bats for Tulo vs. hitting 3rd to 6th (or whatever it is) is nothing to ignore. I know there's stats to show what the optimum lineup is - but I don't recall if it accounts for the value in getting your best guys more at bats.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 Troy Tulowitzki as a Blue Jay: 11.3 BB%, 18.9 K%, .250 BABIP (.321 career), 136 wRC+, 0.9 WAR in 12 games. "Less than average"
