Royals are 10 games over .500 and leading their division, they think this move makes them WS contenders.

We'll see what happens.

This is exactly it. This is the A's adding Lester last year. They think they are the best and they are 'going for it'. I'd support AA if he made this move while in the Royals position. I wouldn't support him if he made it in our current position.

Hey guys, AA was just on the radio saying he didn't hear about the Cueto trade until right now. He's pissed! He said was on the Danforth scarfing down a Gyro with extra tziki. Better luck next time..

That's a great, original joke. Kudos to you for coming up with that.

Great teams are built by great management.

Royals are not great management. One playoff appearance in 29 years, and mortgaging the future for a short term guy who they have zero shot of resigning. And remember, this team is losing Gordon at years end, and faces salary issues with a number of their players, which may require them to make trades. And BTW, the Royals farm isn't exactly teeming with position players.. lots of pitchers, but not much else that projects as regulars.

Did I say the Royals had great management?

Oh yay, more stupid Greek food jokes! I get it, he eats Greek food because he's Greek!

This is exactly what I was thinking too at reading yet another AA joke about gyros/souvlaki/tzatziki. Time for some new material boys, this one has run its course.

Quick suggestions: You could compare AA to Alexis Tsipras or some other disastrous Greek politician. Or if AA gets bent over in a trade, you could say he got "Corinth'd". Just find something.

Royals care about defense, jays gave up on it after Pompey was sent down and Gibby decided Smoak wasn't good enough

That and they've given Colabello 241 PA over 62 games, most in LF. *tear

I think the Pompey decision was made to avoid long term damage to his psyche. He looked like he was going to cry after every at bat there just before being sent down. The issue was - after the Saunders injury, they were left extremely shallow in the OF. Bello got red hot, and they ran him out in LF to keep the hot bat in the lineup (which was compounded when Jose had to DH for that month or whatever).

I don't recall anyone saying this until he was demoted.

The player whose medicals didn't satisfy Cincinnati was in fact Bubba Starling, who Reds covet. Would have been one of main pieces in deal.

Did it say what's wrong with Starling?

Apparently Blair confirms from his sources Reds wanted Stroman

So do 28 other teams. The Jays could have put out a superior offer than KC without trading Stroman. Not that I'm advocating they do that necessarily, but the Rogers propaganda machine on Stroman is running full force on this one.

Exactly, who doesn't want Stroman. That isn't news to anyone but TO media is doing what it does best.

That's absolutely true but that doesn't mean the Reds weren't holding out for Stroman all the same. You don't necessarily negotiate the same way with every gm. Some you might hold a harder line with and some you might accomodate more.

That's the worst part about the deadline for fans like us. We want to know exactly what cincinatti was demanding and what AA was offering. Obviously when a return like this happens and u can clearly see the Jays could have topped it, the unknown makes u crazy.

If jocketty didn't budge off Stroman, then of course u don't do that deal.
