I don't mind giving up some mid level prospects for a mid level rental (someone like an Iwakuma probably), but I definitely don't want to see us give up a Norris or Hoffman for a rental.

AA feeds the "they asked for this" play so fans can think he made a good move by not doing anything and think he was actually involved in possibly get a trade made. Public image propaganda. When what gets leaked as the asking price is so completing off what is actually paid you know something is up.

Not sure if you're agreeing with me, or being sarcastic.

 

...but in case of sarcasm, I am down trade players on this team for controllable pitching like Quintana, Fires, Ross, etc. but for a team that is barely above .500 more than half the season through, there is no reason to waste assets (despite their future outcome) on a player that may or may not help the team and eventually likely leave in the offseason for $$$, something this team has never really has a history of anteing up with AA/Beast.

I like Cody Reed, John Lamb might come up this year as he's been doing alright at AAA and Finnegan hopefully goes back to the minors to be stretched back out as a starter.
